i was there! and it was good. i was back by the national art gallery and could barely hear anything, but i did get to pose with two guys dressed as ICP who had a giant "fuckin' government, how does it work?" sign.

I was close enough to hear this perfectly. It is one of the most sensible things I have ever heard about modern America.

There were forty people at the simulcast in SF; I walked through it on the way to the grocery store. One guy came up to me and asked me if I was interested in politics, and I said no.

It would have been more fun if people showed up.

I was halfway out in the crowd, but had a good view of the screens and could hear it all loud and clear. Great show and a great crowd of people to be amongst all day

The one thing I didn't enjoy is the (implied) false equivalence that Keith Olbermann is as big of a problem as, say, Glenn Beck. But I suspect that was a deliberate decision: if you want to lure people back to sanity, you need to adopt a "now I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular" tone. Once people have wandered back into sane mental territory, they can figure out for themselves who is fostering the crazy and in what degree.

This moved me. He had a national stage, a world stage, and he said this. It's so fucked up that it's gotten to the point where it needs to be said, but it clearly does, and Stewart didn't waste a word.

Five for Jon Stewart.

I am one of those loud hateful people he is talking about in that I am saying that John Stewart is wrong, the right needs to be stamped out like an unruly campfire and buried under dirt, and his speech about us erroneously being the same will destroy progress as fast as when Obama decided to give up on hopey-changey stuff and "reach across the aisle."

The Republican Party owes Stewart some money for this speech.
