memedumpster - 2010-11-15

The gator's friend said "fuck this shit" after one slap.

Urkel Forever - 2010-11-15

Someone seriously doesn't care whether their cat lives or dies.

glasseye - 2010-11-16

Seriously. This is just fucked.

Crackersmack - 2010-11-19

You can tell the cats have lots of alligator experience. They have probably been fucking with those things since they were kittens. Give them some credit.

scrungus - 2010-11-15

even gators will put up with shit like that from cats. toxoplasmosis is more widespread than we thought.

When I was much younger I had a cat who was both incredibly affectionate and incredibly smart. One time when she was a kitten I was playing with her in the front yard when a rottweiler had gotten loose and was wandering around the neighborhood. I tried to get my cat and go inside, but the rott got in between us and the front door and was growling, ready to kill. I was, of course, scared shitless.

The cat went right up to the rottweiler, and puffed up and hissed at the dog. She was no bigger than the dog's mouth. It could have just eaten her in one bite. But the dog ran off, afraid of my cat.

That cat later got shot by a shotgun by an asshole neighbor. She dragged herself home and survived, and lived another 5 years or so, but was never the same. Probably equally from the lead that was embedded in her skin and the trauma of that one night, she eventually spent all her time wandering around the area where she got shot. I like to think she was plotting her revenge.

But all the neighbors knew of her and gave her food every night.

fluffy - 2010-11-16

Oh, and she was a tabby too.

Longshot- - 2010-11-16

What a heartwarming story. I'm going to sleep better tonight.

uekibachi - 2010-11-16

as someone who has never been anywhere where alligators are living in the wild, i have to ask if it is normal to just let them come up to where you keep your boat and there are children?? are they just like big lizards or are they actually dangerous?

Adham Nu'man - 2010-11-16

They CAN be very dangerous, especially for children, but that's why you bring a cat.

Riskbreaker - 2010-11-16

I'm wondering the same thing, this is a tourist spot it seems, and those cats seem to be just hanging around the place. Are people feeding those gators or something? That could explain why they didn't attack anyone there. Cats included.

Timothy A. Bear - 2010-11-16

Adham

Crackersmack - 2010-11-19

I grew up literally next to a swamp in Florida.

Gators are never tame or more approachable no matter how much you feed them. They don't really learn or become trained. They are always a threat, especially to things that are small.

That said, they will pretty much ignore you unless you physically fuck with them. Even small children and pets are basically safe unless they are right up next to the gator, and the gator thinks he can get a quick, easy meal.

They don't give a shit about the cats because they know they can't catch them. Something that looks more vulnerable or slow would probably get snapped at though.

Big Muddy - 2011-01-05

I think that that dude by the tree thought he was going to intercede if the gators got the better of that dumb cat, but all those folks weren't acting too bright in my opinion.

Bacon_Lung - 2010-11-16

Am I the only one who thought cat + gator would end differently?

Pacobird - 2011-08-24

Not seeing any crimefighting here, yeah.
