Saw this a week ago, does not disappoint.

Great. Now they turned one of my favorite books into a modernized shitty sci fi film with horrible CGI and stock monster audio. On top of that, I'm a die hard Spin City fan so Barry Bostwick as Ahab is a dream come true.

My body is ready but my mind is having trouble comprehending all of this. I must see this slice of fried gold.

i ask myself, why the hell would they make this ? then i look at each actor and recall redlettermedia's phrase: glad to be working... glad to be working... glad to be working... really glad to be working.

So the title is.... 2010: Moby Dick

Is there going to be 2011: Old Man and the Sea?

I for one cannot wait for the sequel, "Moby Dick vs. That Giant Squidshark Thing."

I thought that "The Life Aquatic" was the best Moby Dick remake.

wait . . . so this isn't made by the Asylum?

I would really like to see The Asylum make a movie based off of Lolita.

There was also the Star Trek episode with the great white energy cloud that Kirk kept feeding security guards to. It too lacked the deep emotional abyss of the source material.

There was a big-budget "reimagining" of Moby Dick in the works, directed by Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted").

"We wanted to take a graphic novel sensibility to a classic narrative," said Collage. They brought it to the Wibberlys, the "National Treasure" scribes who are branching into producing and will team with Stuber. The project then caught the fancy of Bekmambetov and Lemley, who teamed with the helmer on "Wanted."

So is Asylum this generations Troma?
