What's that Shep? Are you suggesting Death Panels!?!?

Seriously, if you're going to carry water for the oligarchy, don't be so surprised at the consequences. No, Rupert Murdoch couldn't give a rats ass about 911 responders. If he could, he would take out insurance policies on them, just like he has on all his employees, like you. So when you die Shep, he collects. It's just business. American way. It's what they fought and died for. For this.

Jellyneck - 2010-12-19

Are you calling Shepherd Smith a corporate shill?

It would be easy to say that. It would be much harder to work for Fox News and consistently rail against their party line. His outrage from a position of power inside of that organization does a lot more than anything else I can think of right now. As far as I can tell, he earns his paycheck more than anyone else at Fox.

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-12-19

No, I'm not. I am calling him the leaky, 45 year old condom on the syphilitic dick that is the Fox News Oligarchy propaganda machine. Notice how he neglects to mention any of the pertinent details of just why this situation came about. And we are "giving tax breaks to billionaire Warren Buffet". Yeah, one of the few wealthy people who have called for an end to the horrific class warfare being waged on the middle class in America. Slime the beneficial people, hide the culpable, and further degrade the public discourse.

Really Shep, I could better understand what you are saying if you please remove Rupert Murdoch's cock from your mouth while you are addressing us.

Ocyrus - 2010-12-19

To hell with all these people that won't take the effort to side with humanity.
Seriously, I wish that there were a god, just so that I know these cunts would be punished at some point, but they won't.
Paging Dr. Guillotine, another revolution needs your invention.

Perhap Mr. Assange is showing us the way, Oc.

Time travel comment:

That Assange remark sure aged like a loud, wet burrito fart.

dueserpenti - 2010-12-19

Wallace talking about the evils of wrapping oneself in the flag.

TheSupafly - 2010-12-19

'Republican filibuster' was missing from this piece. How about mentioning who is holding this to a super majority guys. And exactly who are the ones who keep digging up the corpses of 9/11 every year.

charmlessman - 2010-12-19

Shep Smith. The reason Faux News can still say "Fair and Balanced". Of course, he's the ONE voice of reason on that station, so the balance is a little off.

simon666 - 2010-12-19

A commenter on another site, perhaps talking points memo, made a good point about this. Smith and the other guy never accuse Republicans, instead referring to the people who voted against the bill funding first responders as "they."

Now the point I'll make about this constant use of "they," is that this allows Fox to avoid alienating their conservative and Republican viewers while at the same time tapping into anti-government sentiment that is prevalent within their viewership.

Given this, I don't think Smith is necessarily worthy of praise in this case, unless we are praising an excellent deployment of sophistry.

kingarthur - 2010-12-19

He's from North Mississippi AND he went to Ole Miss AND he majored in journalism while there. I would assume he's had A LOT of practice in shutting up lest he be ostracized for any liberal leanings in a viper's den of conservative bullshit.

Ludo Smell Bad - 2010-12-19

hear hear. being even a suspected librul will get you ostracized down there.

Senator_Unger - 2010-12-19

It's really surreal when one of the ancillary characters decides to grow a spine for 3 or 4 minutes every couple of months.

CJH - 2010-12-19

Xeno, it's Shepard Smith. And call me cynical, but in the wise words of Shania Twain, this don't impress me much. "Some one has to hold them accountable"... "Well you just did!" Oh thank god! I guess the wrong has been righted; Fox News was finally faced with a republican strategy so baldfaced in its naked hypocrisy that even they couldn't defend it- but hey, Shep the token channel maverick spoke out against it so all is right with the world. Now back to your regularly scheduled program, titled 'Hungrily Licking The Balls Of The Cock That Is Fucking Your Country In The Ass'.

memedumpster - 2010-12-19

Fuck the haters, you go Shep! Those assholes don't need you to say their names, because they're the ones watching Fox News.

Bort - 2010-12-19

You know how Fox News will begrudgingly report on a bad thing that some Republican did, but put a "D" in front of his name? That's what I'm seeing here. If you're a Fox viewer, who will you assume are the assholes in Washington who would screw over 9/11 first responders? Shep is leaving that tiny detail up to the viewers' imagination.

sosage - 2010-12-20

Words are missing from my mouth...

Hammer Falls - 2010-12-19

The Daily Show they mention had Mike Huckabee as the guest. He stated how upset he was by this whole situation because he had a first responder friend who had died. I imagine this was Fox throwing a bone to their employees upset by this injustice.
That said, it's always amusing when a Smith clip shows up here. He always gets comments of "You go, Shep" or "The one voice of reason on Fox". They must let him hang around so they can have these clips to present when people challenge the "Fair and Balanced" thing ("Look! See, we do have an opposing Conservative viewpoint!") or he plays a part for when things are so god-awful they can't put a spin on it.
Either way, and for years now, he still works for Fox News. If he really had this righteous indignation, you would have thought he'd have pushed them so far they would have fired him or he would quit this obviously spun network news. Unless they're holding his family members in a bunker somewhere at gunpoint, he's just another shell for the money.
The stars are for the fact that the topic even exists about not giving these people the health care for so long now.

Anaxagoras - 2010-12-19

You might be right, and whole thing might be bullshit theatre. But it's also possible that Shep has a good job, and has decided to hold onto it rather than rock the boat. That position isn't exactly admirable, but it is understandable.

Ocyrus - 2010-12-19

Watch the Huckabee video again... he didn't have a friend, more accurately though he was aware of a first responder... if he were friends with the guy, Huckabee would have known his last name, but during the interview you can clearly see that Huckabee is truly unfamiliar with the guy he "called" his friend.

Cheese - 2010-12-19

Doesn't say "Republican."

Fuck this was meant for the explosion video

theSnake - 2010-12-20

it still works

Random - 2010-12-20

As Anaxagoras so aptly described it, I think this is just bullshit theater. If this ball-less little bitch actually had any spine he would have mentioned it was the Republicans who were responsible for this. But even if it is all bullshit, it's nice to see somebody on TV just flat-out refer to this situation as a national disgrace, which it definitely is.
