Urge to kill... rising.

Meerkat - 2010-12-22

I would totally join Veterans for Priests if I were a veteran. Or a priest. Preferably both.

Old_Zircon - 2010-12-22

The next civil war is going to be insane.

Meerkat - 2010-12-23

It is totally going to blow your mind. Old hippies will show up with beads and signs and be confronted by wal-mart shopping tea partiers in Rascals, who will run over their sandaled feet.

The injuries will be multitudinous and will be the subject of many an online post and Second Life Protest by keyboard wielding soldiers of fortune, while armchair machos shoot bottles in their back yards and wave flags around calling them pinkos.

memedumpster - 2010-12-23

As opposed to... ? I kid, but yeah, we're boned.

Riskbreaker - 2010-12-23

I think it's going to be slow and short. A huge part of the tea party movement don't have the physical condition to go upstairs inside their own houses. The ones with guns will be too busy hidding in their self-made bunkers, trying to come up with the design of the new american flag. Libertarians will just send somebody else to fight for them.

We may finally see this weapon deployed in an actual combat situation:

I met a woman on the train over here to Seattle. She was an old time Minnesota woman, as sweet as you could possibly imagine. We talked for a couple hours on the way from Chicago to upper Minnesota about everything. It was amazing how much we had to talk about, really. It turned out she was the wife of a pasteur.

On hearing that I was an atheist, she did not say I was going to burn in hell. I appreciated that. She said that Jesus Christ was the one true savior, and I politely nodded, like a nice atheist does. Toward the end of our trip, she told me that I should watch Glenn Beck, because he had "a lot of wisdom." I said I wasn't a fan. (She also confessed that she had had a horrible brain aneurism 15 years ago, which made me feel bad for judging her Beckism)

She disembarked, both of us on good terms. She shook my hand and looked into my eyes. We smiled warmly to one another.

This is the kind of thing that happens in civil societies. I am inclined to side more with John Stewart on this issues than this doomsday device of a toxic cloud. This show routinely casts some nimrods and assholes to be great spectators of the American narrative.

This might be because I am getting involved in a pretty ambitious project to build urban farms and am getting into the idea of hybrid value chains as a new economic model for our century. This kind of activity makes these kinds of people seem far less important in *what is actually happening on the planet*. I'm sorry if you guys think that by believing that the Tea Party is not going to rise up and massacre the ever weakening liberals (liberals who become much more weakened when they whine incessantly about Obama's apparent betrayals) that I am somehow removed from reality.

I do troll here a lot, I know, but I'm being pretty serious here. I think the most removed organization from liberalism has been, for quite some time, The Nation and its contributors. While they nitpick and complain ceaselessly, never giving way to any kind of process or allowing any concession, people in the real world are actually getting things done and helping people.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2010-12-23

Civil war? Are you serious? Good job doing Fox's work for them.

Hooker - 2010-12-23

Baleen rode on a train and met the sort of person he rages about on here constantly, but found out she was nice. The world is saved.

Pity Momentum - 2010-12-23

"liberals who become much more weakened when they whine incessantly about Obama's apparent betrayals"

haha you fucking tool

I am very serious. This is a very serious web site, on which we only discuss matters of extreme gravity.

andyweak - 2010-12-23

Make sure to watch part 2.

fluffy - 2010-12-23

IF YOU AREN"T WITH US IN EVERY WAY YOU ARE COMPLETELY AGAINST US AND A REPTILOID WHO IS GOING TO EAT ALL OF OUR BABIES AND WILL LEAD TO THE EXPLOSION OF THE EARTH'S CORE JUST BY EXISTING

Old_Zircon - 2010-12-23

Yeah, that's pretty much the mindset he's complaining about.

baleen - 2010-12-23

Oh yeah now I remember why I don't watch Democracy Now.

William Burns - 2010-12-23

Did he say something that wasn't true or what?

Modern Angel - 2010-12-23

Because it reminds you that hope for fundamental change has been sacrificed on the altar of corporate profits, cheap credit and mush brained entertainment, all of which you willingly aid and abet because Obama scores massive cool points by being in a Spider Man comic?

CharlesSmith - 2010-12-23

It's baleen guys. He's the kind of broken that trolls try to fake.

baleen - 2010-12-23

LOL

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-12-23

Is it because Democracy Now embodies the kind of narcissistic defeatism that is pandemic among left-leaning America?

Sudan no1 - 2010-12-23

Democrazy Now loves to wallow in narcissistic defeatism all right, but 'pandemic' ?

you truly should stick to anime ped matters

Sudan no1 - 2010-12-23

typo, I swearz

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-12-23

Your response was still pretty shitty.

Meerkat - 2010-12-24

Yeah you should only talk to the wife of Louis Pasteur. Or some other Pasteur.

William Burns - 2010-12-24

"Defeatism" is whining that Obama is doing the best that can be expected because politics is hard.

This is what articulating your message and rallying for progressive causes looks like. The other side had no qualms about pushing Bush further towards corporate fascism, and they're obviously still doing the same to Obama.

Cat_Mech - 2010-12-25

Hey, you fuckers. Cynicism is intellectual weakness. Your fucking pity party everything is doomed bullshit is just an excuse to sit on your ass and fail to even address the responsibility you have to live up to your potential simply to make the world a better place.

Fucking weak, that's all. The product of lower intellectual capacity being controlled by hyperfocused media. You pathetic douches.

William Burns - 2010-12-25

In this video, Chris Hedges outlines a set of problems and how they could be solved in the future. If you mistook that for hopeless cynicism, you are the one who is dumb.

CornOnTheCabre - 2010-12-29

What an optimistic thing to say!

CornOnTheCabre - 2010-12-29

ps: you can't form simple naivete into a passionately held set of beliefs by swearing.

believe me, I tried really hard in 8th grade.

CornOnTheCabre - 2010-12-29

Uhh. Nudge that one up and a little to the right.

That guy - 2016-12-06

This video sounds super fucking funny now in December 2016.
