I know the woods of the Poconos and the Catskills like the back of my hand... there are many Jewish and Muslim compounds, some rather close to eachother.

Also, I personally like how none of the militia members mentioned Islam yet the news broadcast gives it the description: "Self-Defence group faces Muslism 'threat'", and outright talks about the fear of Islam.
The news team anticipated that their viewers were obviously going to think, "I can't quite place the ethnicity of these idiots with guns in the woods. It's on the tip of my tongue." So they found a smart overweight urban Jew to let people know what was going on.
Right to bear arms doesn't mean there is a mandate to bear them. Extremists watching this will just be emboldened in their fight. I want for people to be prepared and secure, but organizing these types of groups seems counterproductive to preventing conflict. You build a fire by stacking wood after all.
