This happens all the time in Brazil. There is no economic incentive to not murder every single indigenous person in their way and everyone knows that is the only morality known by the bourgeois scum that we allow to destroy our planet.

TimidAres - 2011-02-05

Magnificent and saddening at the same time.
Its amazing that with all of the technological advancement and modernization of the earth that there are still indigenous tribes left untouched, unaware of the vast contrast between the outside world and themselves.

For them to meet us would be like if we met an alien race far more advanced than ourselves. It would probably drive them crazy.

I would not call having the entire cultural network you are situated in rapidly changed or dissolved 'untouched'. These people will rely on a thousand different threads of interaction and mutual exchange with other local groups who probably have already been affected by logging etc.

Sorry, that sounded bitchy and I didn't mean it to be.

TimidAres - 2011-02-05

eh, I was drunk when I posted that, so I was feeling compassionate and insightful.
I can agree with you now that Im sober, these guys probably know more about us than we think. And certainly more than we know about them.

That's kind of how I feel when I go to Walmart and see the sweatpants tribes. Modern living has brought so many advances, like leafy greens, and music that isn't Tim McGraw. But if you try to tell them they think you must be possessed by the devil.

Sadly, at this moment government hitmen like public schools and the dept of health & human services are trying to destroy their very way of life.

Until about 150 years ago, roughly 80% of the earth's inhabited regions were populated by hunter-gatherer societies.

In another century or two that could be the case again.

Oh wow. We have airplanes. WHO GIVES A SHIT.

TimidAres - 2011-02-05

I dunno, those tribal dudes looked pretty freaked out.

bongoprophet - 2011-02-05

Footage of contacted tribe in Amazon.

Spastic Avenger - 2011-02-05

There's no such thing as an uncontacted tribe. Just different levels of engagement via the trade complex they are situated in.

Spastic Avenger - 2011-02-05

Oops, that wasn't meant to be a reply, but it works.

jangbones - 2011-02-05

"footage of barely contacted tribe..."

"footage of tribe that has been flown over but nobody has ever talked to..."

these lack ZAZZ

Oktay - 2011-02-05

The elders of the tribe pondered the sightings and concluded that it was swamp gas.

Lone tribesman with history as unbalanced sportscaster has concocted a wild and illucid theory wherein elite members of the secluded tribal society are actually Missourans that can take any form via mental telepathy.
