I barely listened to this, but the cop and robber blasting off on jetpacks alone deserves 5. Actually, his graphics thoughout this are fantastic.

I'm giving it five stars for the land of chocolate lesbians.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-02-12

Doing this really hurts, actually.

Fun review, confirms a lot of my prejudices about these games (haven't played either), but any time Yazhtzee bangs on about horror games and their flaws I can't help but remember he likes Silent Hill 2, which isn't scary at all and is an all around crappy game.

CJH - 2011-02-12

what a charmingly awful opinion

poorwill - 2011-02-12

It is seriously terrible. Except for the music, some of the monsters, and the dog ending.

StanleyPain - 2011-02-12

So what, in your opinion, is really truly great horror game?

bongoprophet - 2011-02-12

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth and Clive Barker's Undying are pretty great. So is the original Alone in the Dark

Also the marine campaign for the 1999 Aliens versus Predator game.

jyrque - 2011-02-12

Silent Hill 2 might be a crappy game, but makes up for it with fantastic subtext and character(s), something that games 99.9% of time fail or cannot do.

poorwill - 2011-02-12

There are some games that are awesome games that happen to be horror themed (like Resident Evil 4), but I guess I can't think of any really, truly great horror games. Of course, I don't insist that games be really, truly great - just as long as they don't suck. Like Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 1 and the non-sci fi entries in Yahtzee's own chzo games were pretty sweet. Also, X-Multiply!

FABIO - 2011-02-12

Silent Hill 2 was boring boring gameplay (even by survival horror gameplay standards) with a great plot, but the plot could only be appreciated in hindsight. 90% of the game was a boring empty jogging simulator then hanging out and eating pizza.

Ursa_minor - 2011-02-12

There are parts of S.T.A.L.K.E.R that are the most tense, uncomfortable and scary moments I've ever experienced in a videogame. Mostly, the underground labs.

Pillager - 2011-02-12

Thief.

Shalebridge Cradle.

Only time I screamed while playing a PC game.

garcet71283 - 2011-02-12

Minecraft, at night..nuff said.

Desidiosus - 2011-02-13

System Shock 2

FABIO - 2011-02-12

So is this game better than the first? Yahtzee's review pretty much summed it up with "competent but bland". It was technically solid but the writers did not know how to handle pacing AT ALL and there were a ton of ill-fitting gameplay elements like the bullet time and telekinesis ray.

And motherfuck those asteroids.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-02-12

I love mummy and being alive.

I used to not like these very much but I'm coming around. Which is interesting considering the only games I play nowadays are the occasional flash thinger.
