Garfield is one of those artless husks of pop culture that occasionally surprises with a moment of genuine entertainment.

The Garfield and Friends cartoon had much better people than it deserved. They had veteran animation director Tom Ray, who had directed Bugs Bunny in the 50's and 60's, the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon in the 80's, and would go on to direct several seasons of The Transformers, and a few episodes of Tiny Toons. The lead writer was Mark Evanier, probably best known as the co-author of the Groo the Wanderer comic.

garcet71283 - 2011-02-11 That and it really wasn't half-bad for a low-rent kids cartoon.
Also, I still tell people that there is no Wyoming.

But now the question must be asked.
Would this be better without Garfield?

I wonder how many other ideas the Drew Carey show stole from garfield.

Odie speaks using his mouth, but makes semi-intelligible animals sounds.
Garfield doesn't use his mouth, but we can understand him in conversational English.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-02-11 I want them to re-air the episode where Jon buries Lyman's corpse in the back yard.

fedex - 2011-02-11 and then Family Guy

Tom Collins - 2011-02-11 I'm looking forward to how the future will remember Family Guy: the edgiest thing in edgy town, or a hit and miss postmodernism pastiche of lowbrow culture!
