Politicians should take classes in stand-up comedy. One of the first things they'll teach you is if something is going on that the audience can see, you can't ignore it. Even if you just make a quick off-hand comment, you have to acknowledge that you see it too, that you're all part of the same experience. Doing otherwise makes you come off an ingenuine.

No, that's a terrible idea for politicians. By completely ignoring it, the majority of the people who heard her speech had no idea that anything happened. If she were to make an offhand comment, then the story in the mainstream media would be about the disruptor rather than whatever she's talking about.

Remember, the real audience for these speeches isn't the physical audience in front of her: it's the people watching her on television.

They managed to get 'part' of this brutal ejection and attack on film, this attack that came without warning and was not prompted by any wrongdoing by McGovern. Of course the part that's missing is everything that occurred before he was ejected which only proves their point that absolutely nothing at all happened to prompt this.

Stick around for the second half, where they talk about being manhandled, what parts of his body were touched, and the bloody pants he has as proof of what they did to him.

You obviously haven't seen the countless code pink protesters and Iraq war protesters violently expelled from Bush administration events and speeches. Not to mention the host of this show, Amy Goodman, who was violently arrested outside the 2008 RNC convention.

Otherwise you wouldn't say such ignorant things.

Though, to be fair to the US security apparatus, anytime security sees someone who could possibly be off their nutter it is kind of their job to make sure we don't have a repeat of the Tuscon shooting.
