Memories of playing the first Zelda in my friend's basement on an old-school tube TV from back in the day when TVs were acutal pieces of furniture. We needed to short across the terminals with a screwdriver to get it to turn on. I got electrocuted more times than I can remember for the sake of this game.
Once it finally turned on (usually after about 5 attempts) with an ominous "zzzzzt*CLICK!..czssshh", it gave a permanent green tint to everything. It had serious phosphor burn-in of Zelda stuff (hearts, score etc) in the corners, and when finally turned off after an entire afernoon of gaming, you got to watch a mysterious green glow slowly recede into a small dot in the center of the screen over a period of about 20 minutes.
I'm pretty sure that if I get cancer it will be because of Zelda.
