Maybe my favorite Coen Bros. movie.

1. Barton Fink
2. Big Lebowski
3. A Serious Man

Lurchi - 2011-03-17

4. Miller's Crossing
5. Blood Simple
6. No Country For Old Men
7. Hudsucker Proxy
8. Fargo
9. Raising Arizona
10. Burn After Reading

(have not seen True Grit or The Ladykillers)

True Grit is amazing. My list would look a little differently but I think TG is up in the top 3 now.

Chalkdust - 2011-03-17

you're also missing 'The Man Who Wasn't There', 'Intolerable Cruelty' and 'O Brother Where Art Thou'

but yes, Barton Fink is tops

I didn't have much love for True Grit. It seemed like the Coens were on autopilot--like it was something they could have done in their sleep.

It takes a lot of work to make something look as effortless looking as True Grit.

oswald you're a retard

Chalkdust, the traditional top ten list has exactly ten items. Which three movies would you replace with you choices? (Also The Man Who Wasn't There and Intolerable Cruelty weren't that great.)

Chalkdust - 2011-03-17

A. you never specified it was a top ten list, I just thought you were ranking them

2. I'd probably bump Burn After Reading in favor of The Man Who Wasn't There, it's actually one of my favorites (top 5 at least)

It seems like Cohen Brothers movies are at their worst when they get A list stars: Burn After Reading, O Brother, and the absolute nadir of The Ladykillers.

One of the best movies ever made, seriously.
