If you scoop up a live one and throw it at someone, it will stick to their skin. This was a highlight of trips to the barrier islands as a kid.

My goodness... Put that thing down lady!

Anaxagoras - 2011-03-25

My eyes thought they were looking at an optical illusion of some sort. That was awesome.

I want to see a movie where Jeff Goldblum is crossed with one of these things.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-03-26

A big, flat Jeff Goldblum lying on top of Geena Davis and running his countless tiny, nubby feelers all over her.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-03-26

Oddly adorable. Don't know how or why.

Lurchi - 2011-03-26

Not much of an animal.

Zhou Fang - 2011-03-26

Hell, I didn't even know they were ever alive.

Architeuthis Tux - 2011-03-26

What most people don't know is that *regular* dollars also start out alive. They're a specially bred flatworm. While they're alive they're covered in millions of iridescent cilia.

To be turned into legal tender they have to be shorn and tanned. But if you look close you can still see the little squiggly red and blue fibers stuck to them.

I think that's Morgellons Disease

Adramelech - 2011-03-26

One day we will look up and see a giant version of that blotting out the Sun.

The sand dollar is the only one that doesn't depreciate.
