With Boomers reaching their sixties and seventies in the next decade, who knows what havok the GOP will soon wreak on this country. Sure Obama will get reelected in 2012, but after that, get ready to flee the country, especially if you ain't a caucasian Christian.

But I am a Caucasian! And I can pretend to be a Christian. The next several years are lookin' pretty sweet.

He's always been far more correct than he is funny.

Except when it comes to medicine. Maher is a big proponent of "alternate medicine," he's somewhat of an anti-vaxxer (claiming that you're 'injecting yourself with sickness') and a luddite when it comes to actual medical technology (he had to be corrected by Bill "diagnose Terri Schiavo by videotape" Frist, among others, when he claimed that cancer treatment hadn't made any headway in the past fifty years).

He also talks over his guests too much. The scripted parts of his show, like this, are the only ones really worth watching. His guests are just there for him to abuse, unlike the ones on the Daily Show, where at least if Jon disagrees with them, he lets them keep talking, tying their own noose and hanging themselves without any help.

Oh, he says stupid shit all the time, even about subjects other than medicine. The whole having a live show thing doesn't always play in his favor... But I agree, he has great writers, even if I find his delivery to be incredibly shrill. My point was that I've never found him extremely funny.

It's so much more insidious than that. Not "who's on dancing with the stars" but "what's happening with the dancing with the stars narrative"

I can't imagine most Americans thinking about this intently. Or even having enough of an understanding of how the world works to build a context that would lead them the the anger they should feel about these facts.

Yeah, dont use words that the right wing has demonized, use other words! Until the right wing demonizes those words too, then use other words! And make sure you keep everyone updated on the word change so they know that the new word means exactly the same thing as the old word but without being evil.

Guys! Guys! You're both right. Demonized words make for an uphill battle and should be avoided when you're trying to make a point, and should be reclaimed at other times.

Solution: call it "class warfare" when the rich want lower taxes, and "fair taxes" when we try to raise the taxes on the rich.

While you're waiting for a call from the perfectly packaged message, the rest of us will be listening to arguments from whatever source & judging the arguments on their own merits.
