The ruckus starting at 1:42 sounded at first like a pack of feral dogs coming down the hallway. IAmTheEnd1000 just kept shuffling along, resigned to a fate of being torn to pieces by wild animals.
This is a ridiculous elevator though. I have two in my apartment complex. One would leak oil and eventually start making this horrible screaming noise near the top of the hydrualics' stroke, and the other one is so slow it takes about 4 minutes to go 3 floors. I've pissed in the elevator that takes a long time. Not because I had to piss that bad, but it was my "fuck you" for it taking so long.
The sound you hear in the video is usually only heard when someone blocks the door or smoke is blocking the light curtain. A door equipped with an infrared light curtain can be blocked by smoke in a fire. The buzzer tells people to get the fuck out of the way if they are blocking the door. Something is fubar in the controller or the light curtain is busto.
If a hydro is leaking oil you should stop the leak immediately. The leaking oil is contaminating the soil. The reason for a leak is usually corrosion or oxidization of the jack. Over time, this hole through which the oil is leaking will get bigger and bigger. Eventually, it may rupture. Probably cost 40 grand or so to replace the jack. Electrolysis is a bitch.
There are lots of reasons for the other elevator being slow. Could be intentionally slow.
Pissing in the elevator is primitive but whatever. Piss on the panel and you might short something out if you want to do some damage.
The reason this elevator closes so slowly it because it's at a storage area where people are often carrying large loads or are moving several things at a time.
The elevator door in my apartment closes incredibly fast and almost closes on me every time I get into it. Fine for day to day life but it drove me nuts I was moving in or whenever I need to move something large like my bike or a TV. It closes on me or whatever I am carrying EVERY single time, almost knocking it out of my hands. So this type of elevator does actually have a point in a storage area, not that IAmTheEnd has very good reasoning skills to deduce this...
A fish-faced janitor/maintenance man at a local college/storage facility has some pointed things to say about the elevator he has to ride up and down, up and down everyday. Shocking.
