Why is it that grim n gritty was over in comics by the 2000s, but whenever comics are adapted to film, the films adapt the grim n gritty make-it-darker style almost always?

StanleyPain - 2011-04-12

I think what I love about this new MK direction is how it is so aggressively bland and boring compared to the original. It goes from "fantasy realm where mystical fighters compete across the cosmos" to "ALL THE VILLAINS ARE CRIMINALS AND THE GOOD GUYS ARE COPS."

The thing I love is how space/time in the warehouse deforms to meet the needs of the protagonists. Truly they are powerful wizards.

I'm not sure grim 'n' gritty's quite over in comics yet, to be honest.

Yeah, why the fuck is Mortal Kombat a cops and robbers shoot out in a warehouse? Did someone give them a copy of Max Payne to use as reference?

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-04-12

Max Payne? More like Dead to Rights.

DY-NO-MITE!

Completely without merit. Missing the ''published fanfiction'' tag.

Rob Liefeld is involved, he has to be.

8:22.

What the hell was that supposed to be?

fatatty - 2011-04-12

Obviously it's a reference to Raiden's famous Lightning Gun.

BHWW - 2011-04-13

Wow, this is really...just really...words fail me. Honestly, I had something for this.

This was charming when it was what I imagined a bunch of drunk guys would make up if they had access to Ed Boon, a keg, some weed and a bin of random kung fu/ninja movies.
