Alright, give me tax loopholes, political contributions, lawyer fees instead of Lebron James salary.

don't forget those handy dandy market short sells

Udderdude - 2011-04-14

Is this guy's entire argument that they're only raping Americans in the ass 10 out of 12 months in a year?

Robin Kestrel - 2011-04-14

Yes. I was thinking that his illustrations pretty much make the exact opposite point of what he's arguing, if you stop to think about them.

Liberals know they need a sob story, as they can't win using statistics, data or evidence. Whereas I intend to explain how we can't meet the budget deficit by estimating the value of sports salaries and Beverly Hills homes, as opposed studying how proposed tax rates would actually generate revenue. Which is much more scientific.

fatatty - 2011-04-14

You're right. We can't close the deficit with taxes alone. So we shouldn't raise taxes at all. Because it can't possibly help.

And obviously let's not touch the defense budget. Let's just fire all teachers and not pay for any healthcare for the poor or the old. Fixed.

I can't tell the flaming asshole on the left from the one on the right. Help me somebody!

themilkshark - 2011-04-14

Suck it, rich boy.

heyitslozeau - 2011-04-14

For for evil and a retarded misunderstanding of everything.

charmlessman - 2011-04-14

Wow! That all totally makes sense!

As long as you discount the fact that putting money into government programs and keeping it in the hands of the middle class generates revenue for both the government and big business.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-04-14

I feel like libertarians and other conservatives know what they are selling is a crock of shit and are basically supporters of caste system in which the richest, whitest people stay as such and present it to dumb, poor rednecks that they've raped as empirical evidence and when these ideas are challenged, their only response is "fuk yoo yoo 'Merica h8n hippy lefty fuck. I don't care for yoo oar yur eleetust ways so just shut up" and the ones at the top know exactly what is going. I'm sure this is a common thought but after I was introduced to this guy, there really is no way around it unless he just has a severe misunderstanding of economics.

poorwill - 2011-04-14

I think it's simpler than that. These people are not lying, they just have a very, very simple system of morality: Something is only bad if somebody hurts you directly and on purpose. This is arbitrary and illogical but it's simple and requires no decisionmaking or anything hard like that, so it's popular in a country that was raised on it - especially among simpletons and for people it is advantageous to.
It's basically a religious conviction - pointing out bad consequences within the system is never a problem with the system itself, it's through a lack of faith in the system - somebody must have done something wrong. Poor people lack virtue and are lazy, or are just unlucky (but what are you going to do?).

I do think these people can be reasoned with and you don't need to appeal to moral principles they don't believe in, or believe are discretionary and not compulsory (like 'mandatory charity' through taxation). You just have to speak their language, point out errors in their internal logic (there are plenty).
