Of all of the video games to get a movie spin-off, Mortal fucking Kombat is the only one that is really faithful to the original story.

Each game in the same damn series completely disregards the story of the previous one, but whoever made this crappy movie must have hired some sort of Outworld historian or some shit. I mean that would explain where the rest of the budget went.

Think of how much better the Doom movie, or the Silent Hill movie would have been if they stuck to the story. Think of how much better this movie would have been if they HADN'T stuck to the story.
The world is so unfair.

This has always been my response to people who bitch about the MK movies. Yes they are terrible (though the second one is far worse than the first), but they're based on MORTAL FUCKING KOMBAT. If anything, the people who made the original should get points for the fact it basically was the best video game-to-movie adaptation yet made.

I girl I used to be with once picked up a copy of this from the used video store, even though I warned her against it. She insisted since the first movie was fun to watch. I tried to show her the warning signs, but she ignored them.

We went back to her place to watch it, and it was awful. The sad thing is that she never learned from this experience. Story of her life, really.

I haven't seen her in nearly a year.

Well, that was one of the reasons we broke up, plenty of poor judgment around. It just got worse after we broke up. Last time I saw her, she broke up with her husband, moved in with a bunch of lowlives to a shithole of a house in a lousy neighborhood and trying to move out west... all thanks to the advice of a "natural psychic" and other bullshit.

Stupid girl needs help... but I've given up.
