so they introduced one of my biology courses with this video

no intro, no explanation, and without bothering to capture my nor the audience's reactions.

that moment was all for the professor.
mouser - 2011-04-20

Oh FUCK YOU Nature!!

Goddamn it! Way to make Alien seem like a walk in the park!
Udderdude - 2011-04-21
It took Nature millions of years to come up with something this gross, do you really think humans could top it that easily?

goat - 2011-04-27
Imagine how much creepier Aliens would have been if the parasitized humans were the ones weaving the nests for the things and then defending them until they starved to death.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-04-20
Poor caterpillar :(
That's crazy sci-fi horror material

Also, Amen break towards the end.
takewithfood - 2011-04-20
I'm skeptical of the internal shots. They look fake.
Architeuthis Tux - 2011-04-20
Yeah, all the internal shots are puppets unfortunately. The problem being that there aren't really any cameras (yet!) small enough to get clean footage of the inside of the caterpillar without killing it.

I look forward to the day when we've got cameras that we can implant in the wasp. Then we can see the whole cycle! It'll be magnificent!

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-04-20
Arg, it seems that parasites will nest inside parasites like some Lovecraftian Matryoshka doll.
Rape Van Winkle - 2011-04-21
You dog I heard you like parasites.

Rape Van Winkle - 2011-04-21
Yo* dog I heard you like parasites.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-04-21
You scandalous dog! I heard you ally yourself with the parasites!

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-04-24
I was just talking to some friends last night about passing an ascaris lumbricoides bolus. So, yes, I do like parasites... probably to an unhealthy level.

A Jumping Spider! - 2011-04-21
I want one of those larva puppets.
Patient Property - 2011-04-27
I just anthropomorphized a caterpillar. I don't know how to feel about that.
goat - 2011-04-27
Why stop there? I can't stop anthropomorphizing the other caterpillars reacting to this poor bastard.

"Hey Phil, what're you up to today? Leisurely leaf consumption and laying around?"

Oswald that Endswald - 2012-05-26
Im never eating caterpillars again.
