Submitted mainly to hurt you.

Jellyneck - 2011-05-08

He's still got it.

(I think that's an old song)

Enjoy - 2011-05-08

Well I thought that was awesome. Then again I'm a white, Christian, white person with a penchant for 80s soft rock.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-05-09

Ah, but are you wearing a white shirt in a white living room with white furniture?

baleen - 2011-05-09

I'll take that one. Yes, Enjoy is wearing white and he lives in a white living room, in a McMansion, not too far from White Center.

kamlem - 2011-05-09

Not feeling the evil vibe. I hated him when he was in the charts, but that was mainly because my sister loved him, and not because of any musical taste I may have had. Still, he performed this song without autotune in sight and uploaded it for free for his fans, and googling "Richard Marx christian" doesn't reveal anything distasteful either.

charmlessman - 2011-05-09

Damn it. Am I getting soft in my old age? I used to hate this guy, but that was pretty cool.

urbanelf - 2011-05-09

That was pretty.

Is he standing in his own feces or something?

baleen - 2011-05-09

I am appalled. Appalled at these comments.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-05-09

They're a bunch of Marxists.

UmbilicalFiend - 2011-05-09

Christian folk is awesome when it's fire and brimstone cognitive dissonance sung by burnout drug addicts, like this: http://www.73q.com/video.php?vid=94225

fatatty - 2011-05-09

I never thought I'd see the day when this site would defend a purveyor of banal 90's soft rock turned youtube Christian rock sensation.

Maybe this time the evil one is us...

sjohnson301 - 2011-05-09

Not evil! Brought back memories of my first ever "concert". Wilson-Phillips opened for Richard Marx in the mid-to-late eighties at the Minnesota State Fair. Used to be ashamed to admit that, but now I've got much bigger skeletons to hide...

spikestoyiu - 2011-05-09

At the tender age of fourteen, I marched into a Sam Goody and purchased NWA's "Niggaz4life", back when CDs were still sold in longboxes. I left the store, ripped it open, and found that it actually contained Richard Marx's "Repeat Offender".

Cool story.

chumbucket - 2011-05-09

An 80's pop star not yet in a drug-induced coma? We'll I'll be damned!

notascientist - 2011-05-09

Singer Songwriters, Good News! I have one rule which will make your songs at least twice as tolerable. Here it is:

Never use the word "I", "you," "love," "need," or "remember".

Following this simple rule will make appear much less self absorbed and whiny. It might even make you stretch to write a real song now and then!

Don't write about yourself. No one cares!

fatatty - 2011-05-09

What the fuck are you talking about.

I think most people are capable of empathy and putting themselves in the artist's shoes enough to relate to a first person song. Most of the music and literature in the world comes from the artist's experience (including love) in the world and often they explain things from their perspective.

Here's a fun game you might not have tried. When the artist says I, pretend that it's you or someone you know instead.

pastorofmuppets - 2011-05-09

I heard from Derek Sivers that every time you say "I need you baby tonight" you sell a thousand copies.

notascientist - 2011-05-11

Ok, ok, you can change "No one cares" to "No one with any taste cares, but you will probably sell tons of songs to the unwashed masses if you are a sexy woman or man."

sjohnson301 - 2011-05-09

Didn't realize Christian Laettner knew how to play the guitar.
