While I do believe that police serve a legitimate purpose within an organized, civilized society, the simple fact of the matter is that police all throughout the world can be notoriously corrupt. And all the bat shit crazy DHS-related legislation that is being passed down south makes me never want to go back again.

The Mothership: As you pointed out, this video is primarily a warning for police officers. Presumably, police departments will and do implement strategies to minimize the risk, for example insisting that suspected sovereigns stay in their car until backup can arrive; but that doesn't mean they're instructing officers to shoot on sight.

I don't trust that sovereignty a simple philosophical stance, kind of like how the "states' rights" position almost always goes hand-in-hand with sticking it to minorities. This is just a different flavor of right wing crank, and with that comes a possibility of violence. If they ever come out with bumper stickers that say "I'm a sovereign citizen but I don't like guns and I refuse to hurt anyone, I'm sure we can talk things out", I may change my mind.
