Even the game they released had content cut, sadly. There would have been new environments, entirely different ending, an army of Duke clones and the jetpack.

I bought it at launch, played it through and enjoyed the experience.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-06-13

I'd reserve final judgement on what's truly "cut" after they announce the end of (if they start, that is) any DLC packs for the game.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2011-06-13

I was going to play it, but after seeing a clip of the scene where the Olsen twins are raped to death by aliens while Duke looks on and lets them die because they "deserve" it I really don't want to spend money on it.

Born in the RSR - 2011-06-13

Yeah that part before the alien queen was really disturbing, and the fact that the trapped topless women were crying. I played the original duke to death, and it had naked women strapped to walls too and you had to be very careful not to kill them but they didn't just vomit and explode in front of your eyes. That part and the hint you sometimes get in the loading screen ""You can slap wall-boobs because most girls don't like it when you slap their's" were just outright disgusting. At least i didn't pay for it.

Harveyjames - 2011-06-13

To be fair, the naked women suggestively strapped to walls in Duke3D did ask you to kill them, and then they'd explode in a cloud of guts with a banshee-like scream. Sometimes you'd even find a hot naked chick with a spike through her gut. I can believe that that this game comes from the same minds that brought us Duke3D.

This is what happens when you get a 90's style development company with too much money and no-one to say no to them.

The women-hating demographic heavily overlaps the compulsive-gaming demographic. I bet this game will be a commercial success, whatever the critics have to say about it.

pastorofmuppets - 2011-06-14

"The original duke" was Commander Keen with lasers. Definitely no topless women.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-06-14

I wonder how many people were looking forward to Duke Nukem just so they could say how offended they were by it.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2011-06-13

where is the "western" stuff I remember seeing so many screeshots of?

No matter what build you look at, this game seems to suffer from some fundamental problem with the camera. Everything is either too close, or lit too harshly with too many shadows, or just fucked up looking. It hurts my eyes.

oddeye - 2011-06-13

Honestly, just fuck Duke Nukem.

NewHeavenSalesman - 2011-06-13

It's probably the best way to end things. A bunch of awful people clamored for years for a sequel to a pretty overrated game remarkable only for a new game engine and the worst kind of power fantasy protagonist. Now, they have a game that isn't nearly terrible enough to reach some sort of comedic cult status, but is just generic, forgettable bad.

I'd say there was a possibility that the game is some sort of satire on the state of modern FPS games and the nature of gamers, but this is Gearbox we're talking about.

Hodge - 2011-06-13

I'm guessing that in the end this game is sadly going to end up as commercial success despite that it just isn't a good game.

I could careless that the game's graphics looks incredibly dated and suffers from long load times. What gets me is that Duke Nukem Forever's gameplay is so bad that it manages to be a huge disappoint to the both the players that preferred the old style of first person shooters and to the players that prefer the more modern style after being 14 years in development.

DATS WHY I STILL MOP THE FLOWS.

The White Man's Burden

"Now that it's out and it sucks, a look at what could have been"

It could have been even suckier?

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-06-14

I think they should have kept the jittery heads and the empty eyes. That alone would have saved the entire franchise.
