This is damned awesome, I have to admit - but aren't we at the point where this kind of technology is close to being seamlessly projected, rather than split up into discrete surfaces?

If they have curved OLED screens, they'd probably be much more expensive. The tsunami modeling shown on that thing is pretty sweet.

To look at it, it seems like a fairly simple design, just small LCDs o a globe. The tricky part would be getting them to sync with each other properly. I have a feeling that while this looks fairly futuristic now, in about 2 years it'll look garish and low tech when we see the globe made from bendable LCD screen (which exists now) meaning that there would be no breaks like a grid in the screen.
