Oh, it gets better. She basically just reads hatemail, and talking about how great, talented and beautiful she really is. In other words, it's wrong to call HER ugly because it's not true, but actual ugly people are fair game.

I'm scared that the media, both online and otherwise, has now fully embraced finding the most narcissistic and stupid person they can and covering them as much as our collective bloated sense of superiority and schadenfreude will allow, to the extent of crowding out any admiration for the learned and virtuous.

When's the last time we as a society had any admiration for the learned and virtuous, though?

Part of being learned and virtuous means being too good for that kind of attention, whether you get it or not.
