4:09 - sound effects stolen from star Wars. Classy.

Spike Jonez - 2011-07-06

Generic sound effect that was used in the original Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon, you mean.

freedoom - 2011-07-06

This show predates star wars by 10 years. also that sound effect is a stock sound effect.

gambol - 2011-07-06

I ALSO CARE A LOT ABOUT A CARTOON SOUND EFFECT

Xenocide - 2011-07-06

The most widely held belief on the internet is that EVERYTHING is ripping off Star Wars.

CONSIDER: In The Empire Strikes Back, Luke gets his hand chopped off. In Beowulf, the Grendel gets its hand chopped off. Hey, 9th century Saxon poets! You owe George Lucas a lot of money!

Bort - 2011-07-06

You're confusing "Star Wars" with "What's Happening?" in that "Beowulf" was based on the latter. Easy mistake, I know; but "What's Happening" is the one where, if you mess with Raj, not even Rerun (Hrothgar) can save you from his mother.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-07-06

Everyone is ripping off Akira Kurosawa.

Cheese - 2011-07-07

I can't believe I'm doing this...

That sound effect is not in Star Wars. It was made famous as the Martians heat ray in the George Pal version of War of the Worlds. Most likely it predates that too, as mentioned above.

The Mothership - 2011-07-07

Beowulf predates the 9th century; likely datable to the 7th or 8th. Xenocide, you owe somebody a lot of money.

fatatty - 2011-07-07

I'm pretty sure every Hanna Barbara super hero cartoon ever has used that sound effect. And most of the other effects in this.

sosage - 2011-07-06

The animation techniques that would launch a thousand mediocre animes from the late 90's to today.

deadpan - 2011-07-06

Iceman running at 2:38

Spastic Avenger - 2011-07-06

2:04 makes me crack up every time.

Bort - 2011-07-06

That's only because you have a soul.

Xenocide - 2011-07-06

I kind of want to run for President just so I can hold an address from the oval office which consists entirely of the phrase "My mutant brain senses danger!"

From 2:25-2:42, they got the scene order wrong. Professionalism!

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-07-06

Professor X loves talking about his brain.

poorwill - 2011-07-07

MY MUTANT BRAIN SENSES DANGER

memedumpster - 2011-07-07

MY MUTANT BRAIN NEEDS COFFEE

chumbucket - 2011-07-07

the ice throw makes a "pewpewpew" sound, perfect

Billy the Poet - 2011-07-09

It would make perfect sense if the soundtrack dropped directly into a mid-90s RZA beat after Doom stops soliloquizing.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-06-13
