This show is so good....

hammsangwich - 2011-07-05

It would become legendary if they could get Chris-Chan on.

CuteLucca - 2011-07-05

This show is great to put on while I clean the house.

NancyDrewFan123 - 2011-07-05

I do that too!

Also this is one of the best scenes from one of the best episodes.

RocketBlender - 2011-07-05

This show is the reason I threw out so much stuff the last time I moved. Tons of boxes and packages from old games and stuff, and useless 'collector's items' that all had to go.

badideasinaction - 2011-07-05

Yeah, after spending about 45 minutes in the home of a hoarder a few weeks ago my cleaning productivity went way up.

endlesschris - 2011-07-05

I really hate this kind of creative editing. If this is truly how the conversation proceeded, why can you only show me the part where he asks for a pickle?

baleen - 2011-07-06

Not only is the editing creative, in practically all of these "reality" shows, the peoples' actions are scripted based loosely on their interpersonal dynamics. Barring that, the subjects are interviewed and then coached and directed to create certain conflicts before the camera starts rolling.

When there are scripts, the editors often write them. This is one way reality shows get away with fucking over union writers and why these shows are so incredibly cheap to make.

What I love about these shows is the dramatic use of musical cues. Like in this, the loud bang that accompanies a flashout edit. Then there's the overused tinny/off-key whiny notes to let us know something awful just happened. It's basically a laugh track but with added creative flair.

CrimsonHyperSloth - 2011-07-05

Arg! This is like my mother and sister fighting, this is why I'm never too keen to visit my family. That exasperated "GAARRRGGGH" yell she does is spot on, and it drives me fucking nuts.

Old_Zircon - 2011-07-05

I worked at a record store for 4 years, I met some pretty serious hoarders. One guy had filled 10 basements with old stereos (everyone who was foolish enough to let him store anything ended up with a basement full of stereos) and he had I think 11 broken 70s muscle cars.

His dad was killed by the Khmer Rouge when he was little, though, so I can't really blame him for being kind of crazy.

Nikon - 2011-07-06

This is a pathological sickness and the mother needs serious help.

spikestoyiu - 2011-07-06

They all do. The father threatened suicide after they took his large cache of guns away from him.

joelkazoo - 2011-07-06

I just recently got into this show. It's great.

mon666ster - 2011-07-06

So this is pretty much why I got rid of cable.

casualcollapse - 2021-02-05

Yeah I never got into watching other people's suffering like this either
