Tryin' hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper)!

Jeriko-1 - 2011-07-12

5'd for the spirit of Chris Farley.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-07-12

The paper target is pointing and laughing at him.

Raggamuffin - 2011-07-12

Haha fucking gun people!

Cena_mark - 2011-07-12

They're still more badass than non-gun people. Which group would win a fight? I'm going to get my first gun real soon.

longwinded - 2011-07-12

you tipped your hand

TeenerTot - 2011-07-12

Non-gun people win as gun people shoot themselves.

Duh.

Raggamuffin - 2011-07-12

This guy got beaten by a piece of paper sooooo.....

garcet71283 - 2011-07-12

Cena_Mark has gained knowledge of firearms. The arms race is on, poeTV arm yourselves!

oddeye - 2011-07-12

Careful guys, he's with the coast guard!

Aelric - 2011-07-12

You gave an "I'm off to basic" video like 9 months ago. And yet you haven't had firearms training yet? Are you a section 8 or something Cena? Or have you given up on telling that lie by now?

baleen - 2011-07-12

These stars are for "you just tipped your hand."

memedumpster - 2011-07-12

My brother did something very similar to this.

Also, as a gun person who is surrounded on all sides by gun people, I can say with some assurance that someone who has never picked up a gun before is just as skilled with them as most of these assholes. Being a good shot is rare amongst the human species.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-12

Aeldick, The USCG isn't all that gunny. But I did fire guns in basic, but not since. I'm meaning I'll buy my own personal gun soon.

James Woods - 2011-07-13

So was it a lot like full metal jacket? Did the whole held down by bed sheets, bar-of-soap-in-a-sock thing hurt like a bitch or what?

Aelric - 2011-07-13

USCG? I Thought they were joking! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Aelric - 2011-07-13

Not to mention, you said marines, over and over and over again.

oddeye - 2011-07-13

Don't diss the coast guard, he's fighting the war on terror!

Cena_mark - 2011-07-13

I never once said I was joining the Marines. I said I was joining the military and that's exactly what I did. Some people just made the assumption that I was choosing the Marines.
Bootcamp was surprisingly much like Full Metal Jacket. We even had our own Gomer Pyle. But he got thrown out in a few weeks.

And yes Oddeye we do fight the war on terror.

James Woods - 2011-07-13

Wait, so, did you complete basic, or were you thrown out in a few weeks? I'm confused.

James Woods - 2011-07-13

You fight the wart on terror like the weathernetwork fights the war on tornados.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-13

I finished basic. I'm still in it, I even got a promotion.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-07-12

He sounds so surprised, too, like that's the very LAST thing he expected to happen while playing "cool guy with a gun" for the camera.

Xenocide - 2011-07-12

FREEDOM.

mouser - 2011-07-12

YAY! WOO! FIRST AMENDMENT! WEE!

Aelric - 2011-07-12

Seems more like a graze since the bullet seems to pass through out the knee of the pants. If that went deep and all the way through lengthwise, blowing out he kneecap, he'd not be walking nor so calm.

That said, that muzzle flare looks a bit fake, so who knows, this could be bullshit.

Ursa_minor - 2011-07-12

Doesn't look fake to me, and the military used to fly me out to Ft. Mcclellan in Alabama just to study muzzle flashes/bursts/flares/whathaveyou. You've got to take into account the FPS the camera was shooting in, then the compression once uploaded, etc.

Doesn't look weird to me.

And yes, he just grazed his leg, or else he'd be crumpled up in a ball.

jangbones - 2011-07-12

every video that appears on the internet is fake

Wombles - 2011-07-13

I was initially amazed at his composure until the slow-mo suggested a far less serious injury.

If it went in, his reaction would make people would think this video is less funny when it would actually be much funnier.

sosage - 2011-07-12

I think the paper man was trying to kiss him.

jyrque - 2011-07-12

I think he was about to kiss the paper man.

chumbucket - 2011-07-12

Left your gun on the ground over there bucko.

duck&cover - 2011-07-12

He and that gun are quits! "Why'd you shoot me, honey? Why?"

Burnov - 2011-07-12

This guy is being an idiot, honestly gun ownership is one of those things where people who are too careless to use a firearm will pay for it in short order. There's no such thing as careless firearms operation insurance if you get my drift.

Anyone remember that ATF officer doing a presentation in a school?

I personally enjoy it because its one of the few things in life that takes care of the people who shouldn't be doing it in the first place. This generally keeps the general population of legal and legitimate firearms owners pretty honest about whether they deserve to own and operate them.

GiantAtomicFreak - 2011-07-12

Idiots with guns don't only shoot themselves though. I wouldn't have a problem with drink drivers if they just drove off bridges and didn't involve other people.

Burnov - 2011-07-12

This is true, however there's a clearly defined line between simply being a negligent moron and engaging in some form of criminal insanity.

Typically, the former results in somebody who has consented to be a participant or a spectator to the aforementioned stupidity in some form or another.

Situations similar to the ATF agent at the school notwithstanding, there are clearly defined areas where people are legally allowed to operate firearms.

I think this sort of regulation is perfectly reasonable considering some individuals possess a disturbing lack of common sense. I however do -not- believe at all, that because of that minority of individuals, that the rest of the population should be prevented from ownership.

I hate to say it but that sort of reasoning is for cowards of a specific political inclination.

No, I will successfully draw a corollary between the ownership of firearms and the availability of street-legal cars capable of speeds FAR beyond those of proscribed speed limits.

Both are legal, and NEITHER are a strict necessity for daily life. However automobile accidents and deaths far outnumber the amount of accidental firearm related deaths per year.

Even if you want to take into account murder rates, automobile accidents still handily outstrip firearm fatalities in most cases.

Chalkdust - 2011-07-12

counterpoint: the amount of time spent driving a car when injuries do not occur vs. the amount of time spent firing a gun when they do

Burnov - 2011-07-13

"Leading Causes of Death in the United States
As compiled from data reported by the
National Vital Statistics Report, Vol. 50, No. 15, September 16, 2002"

Motor vehicle deaths: 43,354

Accidental Discharge of Firearms: 776

According to a website with an obvious bias the stated statistics for nonlethal firearm injuries for 2004 16,555 / 26% of All Injuries.

Your comparison is somewhat retarded in that the very nature of vehicular accidents and firearm accidents are intrinsically different.

If a firearm accident is going to happen at all, its going to be at the hands of somebody who is incompetent and likely will happen sooner than later.

Firearm discharges happen in the span of seconds, and once more, legal firearm usage is relegated to certain areas typicaly well away from non-participating members of society.

A car driven by a moron on a cellphone or somebody speeding and not paying attention can happen pretty much anywhere.

Basically, what I'm saying is: firearm accidents are usually natural selection, as I'm sure you'll agree.

I cannot empathize with anyone reasoning that idiots should be protected on the basis that somehow they're some valuable resource to society at the expense of people who obviously aren't.

Political moon logic.

FABIO - 2012-12-08

Now let's compare the utility of gun and car ownership...

Chalkdust - 2011-07-12

doo dah, doo dah

boner - 2011-07-12

hammsangwich - 2011-07-13

What a fucking moron. Why did he have the gun in the holster with the safety off? Was he going to shoot that target point blank? Also, who was the target? He didn't look Arab or like Obama.

oddeye - 2011-07-13

IRS taxman.

heyitslozeau - 2011-07-13

"Yes he is American. In AMERICA you have the FREEDOM to purchase a firearm and shoot yourself if you want. Thats what makes AMERICA so damn good. All you dumb fuck foreigners can have your Socialist Government baby sitters telling you want you can and cant do with your own lives. I'll take the right to accidentally shoot myself any day over the way you people are forced to live. As SUBJECTS of your governments you are nothing more than brain washed sheep."

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-07-17
