I think you can beat this game in a similar time without using cheats.

Why is the Church music playing in the Hell stage? And why is he fighting Motaro there, rather than in Motaro's Lair?

This is just silly.

That was because with every MK by Williams entertainment (aka, every one since MKIII) some ass employee thought "HEY I KNOW WHAT WOULD BE AWESOME, LETS LET YOUR OPPONENT RANDOMLY FLY THROUGH THE CEILING/WALL WHEN YOU HIT THEM AND YOU'RE BOTH SUDDENLY IN A DIFFERENT STAGE!" so basically the games are set to just choose a random track, with one of the stages it has in mind and just go with it.

I guess it is kind of neat that you can knock your opponent through hell's ceiling and be back out of hell though.

They're playing as Shang Tsung, but when they win it in the form of another character, it's the other character's name and portrait that is used post-game and on the ladder. It's nothing compared to all the ridiculous game-breaking bugs, but it just shows how the game's makers really didn't give a shit at all.

EvilHomer - 2011-07-18

I do have to give them credit for the morphs, they're better than MK Trilogy's. Three possible characters AND a loading time? Totally killed the point of using Shang Tsung, an issue the series has never resolved to this day.

It's a sorry excuse for code, as if you couldn't tell by all the glitches.

Why is everyone yelling like a girl when they jump? Why did Nightwolf's kick hit 400 times?

The AI for Subzero(2, Jr., little brother whatever) seems to have the right idea, freeze the other guy and run like hell.

I would be tempted to blame hardware limitations, but there's also a GBA port of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (a later, more complex game with about twice as many characters) that's so good I still play it to this day.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2011-07-18

There's also a pretty much perfect port of Ultimate MK3 for DS that has a really good online mode and a puzzle mini-game tacked on to boot. In case you actually want to play a functional version of this on the go.

sosage - 2011-07-18

This was during a time with GBA where everyone was excited about the hardware. So there were a ton of these mediocre/bad titles being sold that were pretty much experiments in seeing what they could do. There's a lot of not-so-great ports going on during those two years. Experiments being the key word here.

Case in point, Wing Commander: Prophesy

Never thought a handheld could do 3d...never wanted it to since.

This was painful.
