Not sure where Ricky was going or trying to go with the Gremlins reference. Then again, it's Gervais. The last line had me laughing.
Karl once asked what the creatures from "Gremlins" were called. I doubt he meant "Mogwai".

Oh wait, I was thinking of "Man With two Brains". Then again, in "All of Me," he didn't replace half of his brain with half of hers, either. Karl's story sounds like it would do better as horror than comedy.
Plus: No lesbians.
This is basically "Donovan's Brain", but with obligatory lesbian sex scenes.
There was also that really bad brain swapping Bruce Campbell / Ted Rami movie.
Movie plot from the 80s plus lesbian sex scene is a solid formula. Karl's more of a savant that Gervais or Merchant want to admit.
