Riveting.

chumbucket - 2011-07-28

abandoned? why?

Xenocide - 2011-07-28

Audiences found it hard to accept the concept of a fantasy world where the Warner Bros logo is imbedded in the mountains.

SolRo - 2011-07-28

The ratio of cost to make vs number of people that would mindlessly buy tickets out of sheer nostalgia didnt work out

ez - 2011-07-30

Snarf was a holdout.

EvilHomer - 2011-07-28

This movie looks AWESOME. I'm totally not being ironic here, either, I'd watch this movie in a heartbeat. I mean, come on- just TRY and tell me that 2:01 didn't sell you on this idea.

Hollywood cancels this, but promotes the hell out of The Smurfs. Where's the justice in that?

Hammer Falls - 2011-07-28

Unless they were going for a PG rating, it's easy to see why they abandoned it: The highest grossing adult (PG-13 or higher) strictly animated movie in America is still "Beavis & Butthead Do America".

EvilHomer - 2011-07-28

Which was also a brilliant film. Besides, the target audience for any Thundercats reboot is the same target audience Do America was aimed at (Gen Y idiots). There's clearly a market.

Hammer Falls - 2011-07-29

Oh, don't get me wrong. I wasn't mocking the quality of the B&B movie. Just that it's held the title of highest-grossing adult cartoon with million since 1996. Unfortunately, adult-aimed cartoons are just not that profitable in American theaters (see: Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within, or rather, don't).

Bisekrankas - 2011-07-28

Still, id prefer it to transformers 3, but then again id prefer getting my balls nailed to a wall to transformers 3

sosage - 2011-07-28

Hollywood doesn't cancel its unimaginative IP reboots, it postpones. Look out for this shit to land after they see how the cartoon reboot works out.

endlesschris - 2011-07-28

Yeah, I interviewed the guy who made this. http://www.gamezone.com/editorials/item/interview_with_jerry_oflah erty_and_todd_porter. He blames the economy. The movie will probably get made at some point, just in a different form.

garcet71283 - 2011-07-28

Well, the character designs look alot like the Thundercats reboot that is going to air on Cartoon Network (or is in Nickelodeon?)

memedumpster - 2011-07-28

This is no more awful than that stupid X-Bro First Franchise movie that I saw the other day.

Rovin - 2011-07-28

Still looks marginally better than Doogal.

Nikon - 2011-07-28

It doesn't look any worse than
Random CGI Talking Animal Movie For Kids Made in 20--.

uekibachi - 2011-07-28

looks about 340398 times better than x-men 3

dairyqueenlatifah - 2011-07-28

For CGI from just a couple years ago, it looks incredibly dated.

The fact that a Smurfs movie is being released theatrically tomorrow and has already been mass marketed to hell and back, and that I just saw an actual trailer for a film based on the board game Battleship last night, pretty much sets the bar to the floor. There's no reason Thundercats can't have it's own feature film.

hammsangwich - 2011-07-28

I thought it looked rough too, but that could be just because it was whipped up on some guys iMac and not a multi-million dollar SGI cluster.

Also, it had almost a Pixar feel too it.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-08-02

I like that it acknowledges how stupid it is, rather than going the serious route. That bumps it up a few notches (from the level of Satan's ass in Cocytus, mind you).
