O'Donnell, Bachmann and to a lesser extent Palin really just seem like a way for the conservative base to play chess with our nation's gender politics. you will constantly see either of them chiding politicians for their "unmanly" tactics, and you will hear virulently anti-gay rhetoric come out of their mouths that would make Limbaugh blush. and yet they can still pivot on a heel when asked about any of it and come off like the "better man" to their constituents.

Well, it really doesn't seem like her supporters even CARE about her policies and words, so attacking them seems pretty much just as self-indulgent at this point.

I was being a little tongue-in-cheek when I said "so just do it anyways," but that (allegedly) sexist Newsweek cover had it right that Bachmann tends to evoke unprecedented amounts of guileless emotional outrage in political debate.

Really, I think sexist remarks are more or less just a kneejerk reaction to a political force that defies rationality or reasoned debate.
