The description is probably the most accurate summary of everything that ever came out of McKenna's mouth.

Needs "DMT" tag.

Because you don't see these Machine Elves while on LSD.

So, is this whacked-out broken-brain theory month on POETV? Because if so, I love it, and want more of it.

Also, an extra five for the submitter's name matching up with the content.

Check out McKenna's seven-hour lecture on his Timewave theory for a fascinating surrealist parody of scientific method. He claims it was dictated to him by a talking mushroom but he based it on grumpy dissatisfaction with what he saw as "science's one free miracle" of the Big Bang Theory.

He was very good at taking the piss outrageously and funny and charming enough to have people listen to him.

Alan Moore took the torch from Terence McKenna and Anton Wilson. Everything he says and writes is recycled material from their books and lectures, but he does it so well and with so much respect that you don't really mind.

I loved this guy in high school.

riedquat - 2011-09-26

I still do, but for his impish sense of drama rather than his theories

Oktay - 2011-09-26

I have always suspected but never been able to confirm that David Van Driessen was inspired by Terence McKenna.

notascientist - 2011-09-26

I absolutely hate this shit.

Oscar Wildcat - 2011-09-26

Just out of curiousity, why?

riedquat - 2011-09-26

That sounds like scientist talk to me

notascientist - 2011-09-26

Because it is complete bullshit with a patina of scientific mumbo jumbo and I hate it when assholes appropriate scientific language for their infantile "spiritual" ideas. Scientists actually speak, when they are on their game. This guy is merely putting words next to one another.

Void 71 - 2011-09-26

I love this shit. It's a lot of fun.
