I can say with all honesty I never knew about this, which I guess is a by-product of not being a New Yorker or someone who was really personally effected by 9/11 (I didn't know anyone killed or hurt and none of my friends or family were effected in any appreciable way by it) so I never really followed the stories of ground zero or the survivors organizations
