I'm not a US citizen.

...next sentence....

This is my right!!!

Bort - 2013-11-24

This is your right ... you're gonna die!

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-11-24

Sweet schadenfreude.
I just checked out yt... ah the comments!
Also realised *the guy* posted this himself!! How embarrassing!

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-11-24

Though I sort of get their overall point, it is a bit weird that when your born you're automatically the subject of one government or another and all the land has already been taken over by countries already.
Why not be allowed to opt out as long as you never benefit from any of the infrastructure, or you could use a pay as you go scheme and pay to use certain things.

I havent slept in a while tho.. Maybe I am a bit mental now :/

Bort - 2013-11-24

I can see their point hypothetically too, but they forget the number one consequence of anarchy: some asshole will invariably step in to fill the void, and yes it will be an asshole.

If these guys got their wish and the government left them completely alone, they'd be fuming by day three that the police aren't returning their calls.

The only way around that is to live so far away from human habitation that you can avoid contact with other people for however long you want. Only thing is, if you're the sort of person who likes to post YouTube videos, you're probably not cut out for seclusion.

Monkey Napoleon - 2013-11-24

You can't "opt out" because such a thing just doesn't parse with how you function as an individual. The second you receive any kind of health care, consumer goods, income, transportation, utility services, external labor.... basically anything another person has ever conceived or touched, you're reaping the benefits of our society. All of these things were brought to you by the collective effort of humans, and the upfront cost does not even come close to covering your share of the burden. You cannot disconnect unless you live entirely in the wilderness, using nothing but rocks, dirt, plants, and animals. Even then, you're probably reaping some kind of subtle benefit you're not directly aware of.

These people are brutish and stupid. They want to take from society the things they need and the things they'd like, without being subject to rules that brought these things to them in the first place.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-11-24

Yes, after sleep I realise I was thinking with experimental backup brain when I wrote last comments :)

memedumpster - 2013-11-24

If you could opt out you'd be an automatic slave, most of this shit (at least for another couple of presidents) is to keep you from being fucked over by those in power.

It's not about the country you benefit from, I benefit from China constantly, no one's saying we should be citizens. It's about who protects you from being fucked over by what. If that ends, there's no reason to be a citizen.

SolRo - 2013-11-24

If you are your own country, you just got annexed bee-atch!

PlusDome - 2013-11-24

this, you can opt-out/claim anything you want, as there is no system of ownership beyond violence and threats of violence. however you are entitled to NO protections. the cops shouldve arrested and detained this guy for trespassing and having nowhere to deport him to, sold him to China.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-11-24

They're children: They want to be able to do whatever they want under any circumstances with no responsibility or inconvenience.

As for the whole concept of not having approved all of the laws one lives under, one didn't ask for paved roads, shelter, emergency services, electricity, water, food, or any of the other bajillion things that were provided under even some of the most repressive systems. They also have no idea what a true repressive tyranny even is or the fact that the very term "sovereign citizen" is a contradiction in terms, like "one-person crowd" or "legion of one dumbass."

Sanest Man Alive - 2013-11-24

The term is "oxymoron." The people who try to push this idea are just regular morons.

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-11-24

Ahhhh, sweet sweet sovereign goodness! You can fast forward to 9:00 or thereabouts to get to the fun part, but stick out the discussion so you can really feel the warm glow when they finally stomp the guy.

What always amazes me about these video clips is how unfailingly polite and nice the police are. Think about the times you've been pulled over. Are the police this nice to you? I guess I need to start presenting as an untreated schizophrenic....

Bonus stars for "I have a gun at my side. I'M NOT THREATENING YOU!" Sadly, his freedom dodecahedron proved no match for the long arm of the Law. Comment from Gmork pending.

SolRo - 2013-11-24

Depends what you get pulled over for.

Might also be related to sunglasses...only time I didn't get off with a warning is when I didn't take my sunglasses off.

Also I'm white and drive an economy sedan without tinted windows or ricer accessories. I'm about the most unintimidating flavor of vanilla that cops encounter.

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-11-24

I know, young Oscar Wildcat could be a bit provocative, and at the time the police were acting more like an invading army (WOD) than peacekeepers. Still, the police were unfailingly rude to me, with a good deal of what comes with that.

Then I moved to NYC, and the police there ignored me entirely. The locals in my neigbhorhood thought I WAS A COP! This I could never get my mind around.

Now? Who knows. Everyone here is batshit insane, police and civilians alike. I have no idea what would happen if I got pulled over today. I suspect a few of our local police are also sovereigns, so imagine being pulled over by one of these idiots.

StanleyPain - 2013-11-24

More of that "Freeman on the Land" pseudo-legal nonsense. For those unaware, these are people who think that simply by using the right words, you can simply "opt out" of obeying laws in the US, which only apply to the legal entity of yourself, not your actual physical person. This way they can use all sorts of complicated, nonsense logic to try and claim that legally acknowledging true citizenship is somehow slavery or some nonsense. Videos of these people in courtrooms is pretty funny.

exy - 2013-11-24

It seems like this could all be cleared up with a quick check of "law" in the dictionary. It's minute 2.5 and I'm out.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-11-24

I'd usually be peeved by the fact that a bunch of cops busted the windows out of a guy's car simply because he refused to get out.

Not this time!

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-11-25

Just a little detail, but I like how that Peace Sign is incorrectly drawn. Unless it's some sovereign symbol I don't know?
What a bunch of clowns.

pyslexic dharmacist - 2013-11-28

Do police departments give awards for "Most Patient?" I would've tazed this guy after 30 seconds of his shit.

The Mothership - 2016-07-24

Idiot.
