I think Wolf3D was the first game where I was like "wow, I think I like video games" maybe a little more than the average Joe at the arcade. I don't think I ever played through to the end and actually confronted the Cyber Hitler or anything, but that didn't matter because I must've created at least a thousand maps and at least that many sprite-edits to make the Nazis explode more violently, lose their clothes when shot, etc. DOOM and Duke3D eventually took Wolf3D's place, but Wolfie was the first, and probably in a way how I ended up in this corner of the internet in the first place. I'm willing to accept that the new Wolfenstein games probably won't have the same impact, but damnit this means as much to me as a new Mario does for console gamers.
