by "painful to watch" you meant "fucking hilarious", right?

jangbones - 2018-09-23

I think it is a misspelling, he meant to write "glorious to watch"

Then again, this guy apparently accused George Soros of collaborating with the Nazis, so I hope he finds whatever bad things are coming to him extra painful.

If there's a silver lining to the far-right sickness blighting the world's soul, it's that everyone with a shred of decency left is learning to stand up and call that blight out.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-09-23

GOD DAAAAAMMMN this was great. I mean that guy has like six big cowboy boots right up his ass right now.

That guy - 2018-09-23

Don't exaggerate. I have five and the fifth one is crowning.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-09-23

We actually have a right-wing conspiratorial nutcase like this in Congress representing us in the Binghamton, thanks to a third party candidate in 2016. Look up Claudia Tenney sometime.

I think this really is a family defending its honor, tired of people assuming that they are also pieces of shit. Honestly, though, I don't know if this is good politics. If I was already planning to vote for this fucktard, I'd just assume that he came from a family of crazy libtards, and I'd resent the Democrat for taking a hand in sabatoging my candidate's family, and then grinning like a jack-o-lantern at the end.

And the way they pose them in front of a football field, a farm, a trout stream, etc, its a little heavy handed, no?

No one makes ads expecting that the fringe crazies will suddenly have a mind-blowing epiphany due to them. It’s for influencing the undecideds and energizing their own voters

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-09-23

Of course you're right.

Binro the Heretic - 2018-09-23

You'd think, being a dentist, Paul Gosar could tell from his siblings' body language how much they hate him.

boner - 2018-09-23

And to think, he used to play the wholesome Zack Morris on Saved By The Bell.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2018-09-23

"Let's review. Paul Gosar alienated the majority of his family. Gosar answered back with 'Hillary Clinton brainwashed them, fuck 'em, they live out-of-state'. He then got re-elected to Congress on the strength of voter apathy, allowing Gosar to double down on his love of conspiracy theories, and we never see his family again because they probably fucking killed themselves."

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-09-23

Worst case scenario, Paul wins the election, gets drunk at Thanksgiving dinner, and drops his pants and defiantly waves his dick around, just as the pumpkin pie is being served.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-09-25

That makes sense, they're both trash.

Hailey2006 - 2018-09-23

Something tells me this is going to have a Streisand effect.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-09-23

I know you're being ironic, but I finally looked up the Streisand effect just now, and that's not exactly what it means. In fact, I'm now convinced that the majority of times I've seen it used, it was incorrect.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect

The Streisand effect is a phenomenon whereby an attempt to hide, remove, or censor a piece of information has the unintended consequence of publicizing the information more widely, usually facilitated by the Internet. It is an example of psychological reactance, wherein once people are aware that some information is being kept from them, their motivation to access and spread it is increased.

It is named after American entertainer Barbra Streisand, whose 2003 attempt to suppress photographs of her residence in Malibu, California, inadvertently drew further public attention to it.

I assume what you're saying is that people are going to vote for the Republican candidate BECAUSE of this ad, which, I believe, would also be an example of "psychological reactance". I would suggest instead for this type of thing we use the "Trump effect", but sadly, Trump is going to effect so many things so terribly that's just too general for this usage. I'm sure there's a good example of this somewhere.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-09-24

His response:

"My siblings who chose to film ads against me are all liberal Democrats who hate President Trump. These disgruntled Hillary suppporters are related by blood to me but like leftists everywhere, they put political ideology before family. Stalin would be proud. #Az04 #MAGA2018"
