Yeah, I don't recall any lessons on media literacy from school when I was a kid. It should be included, but I don't think Betsy wants that. Gotta create the next generation of suckers for Amway.

In Canada we had these PSA snippets included in commercial breaks and such: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=39138

I'm pretty sure I was explicitly taught some kind of media literacy/critical thinking about TV in english class, or whatever they called the "life class" where you put a condom on a banana.

Cena_mark - 2020-05-10

I think it's still not allowed to demonstrate condoms in many school districts in the USA. Canada wins again. Except in the Montreal Screw Job, you guys lost that battle.

"Thanks to our schools and political leadership, the U.S. has acquired an international reputation as the home of 250 million people dumb enough to buy 'The Wacky Wall-Walker.'"

I like Zappa, but how can he not understand the appeal of wacky wall walkers?!

Mister Yuck - 2020-05-12

I had a media literacy unit at some point and I learned how to put a condom on a banana in an American public school. Course, along with proper sex ed, we had a day where the abstinence only weirdos came in and taught us a bunch of weird lies

I was so much of an early-developing troll that I was fully capable of abusing religious freedom laws to get special privileges, mainly just to skip class and get high. People are suckers.

This is making me want a mid 70s video editing closet.

The real to reels are cool

I'm pretty sure I saw this around 1979-80 when I was in Kindergarten.
