I think this man must have gotten really drunk and made a boast to friends, then promptly forgot about it until they woke him up one morning and drove him to the event.

Luckily the common coconut is a gentle creature and slow to anger. Attacks on humans are rare.

Slo-mo would be good. I think I saw his hand bend around one of the coconuts in a way that a hand is not meant to bend.

My bet is that he had not tried that rig before. He might be able to crack a few of them, but my guess is that they were not held my the sides like this rig does, and that they didn't move out of the way every time he tried to crack them.
