Haha buy now, bitches, so in a year when you have to unload your stuff I'll buy it up at half the price.

grimcity - 2008-11-13

That's so true. I remember back when Clinton got elected, my adult older brother and my dad did the same shit... they bought guns they never, ever, ever would have normally bought. We always had hunting rifles and handguns/bows and arrows for target practice, but all of a sudden I'm seeing Kalashnikovs with industrial strength banana clips and shit... they weren't the only ones in the neighborhood doing that either. Having the fanciest most retarded gun wound up being the penis extender of its day.

If you want protection for your home, get a dog. If you need a gun, get a shotgun and get someone who knows what they're doing to saw off the barrel and stock for you. You don't really have to aim, and you don't have to worry about a bullet going through your sheetrock walls into your neighbor's house or through the window and down the street like even a .22 is capable of doing. Put birdshot in it and it'll practically be non lethal.

Ersatz - 2008-11-13

What? "Assault rifle" prices are up over double from where they were before 1994 (pre-ban), but down by about half from where they were before 2004 (in-ban).

The smart thing to do is to buy a cheap Chinese (or other stamped-receiver type) AK now for 0, and sell it in a year for 00, after the heavily-Democratic Congress has passed a new assault weapons ban with no threat of a veto and no sunset clause.

No ban has ever made anything cheaper.

zatojones - 2008-11-13

That's true except that there will be no ban because Democrats learned that hard way with the first one that it's a sure way to get yourself voted out of office. There are far greater things, like the economy, the war in Iraq, catching bin Laden, health care and so on that they will focus on. Thus when it becomes clear that there is no great gun grab coming up all these retards will start selling.

Ersatz - 2008-11-13

From the Democratic party platform:
"We can work together to enact and enforce common-sense laws and improvements – like closing the gun show loophole, improving our background check system, and reinstating the assault weapons ban, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals."

It's a cheapo bill -- you don't need to allocate any real money (maybe a bump up for the ATF, a couple dozen million tops), you just change the start date and wite-out the end date from the last bill, and poof! You've got your assault weapons ban.

They act quickly, while the Republican party is in disarray, so the GOP can't pull centrist/red-state Democrats across the aisle. Starting quickly also puts a lot of time between the vote and the next election cycle, minimizing the impact of a yea-vote on the votes of the gun-issue voters those centrist Democrats need.

Space Helicopter - 2008-11-13

These gun store owners know they'll have great business for years to come.

casual relationships vs. correlation.

media kryponite.

fluffy - 2008-11-13

Casual relationship, like friends with benefits!

(ITYM "causal")

The Snickler - 2008-11-13

How dare Obama suggest that small town America clings to its guns in fear of change.

takewithfood - 2008-11-13

Have some stars.

paranex - 2008-11-13

Have some more.

Camonk - 2008-11-13

Dallas is hardly a small town.

But it's full of whitebread morons.

dancingshadow - 2008-11-13

:)

Randroid - 2008-11-13

it's not like that the 700 club told me stationary machine guns is a "great investment"

(to kill nigras)

RockBolt - 2008-11-13

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the New West. You know - morons.

Syd Midnight - 2008-11-14

I always wonder how the apparent belief that the US government can be defeated by dumbshit hicks with AKs can ever co-exist with approval of military operations against insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Simian Pride - 2008-11-15

Yes, but are they bitter?

UnderANeonHalo - 2008-11-13

I'm finding alot of varying figures on this but the most consistent one is that nearly half of all American homes have at least one gun owner. So let me ask this, when is comrade Obama going to organise his secret police to take the estimated 800,000,000 guns in America? Because man he's gonna have a hell of a time getting the pro-gun military to kill all of the civilians who take Thomas Jefferson's quote of "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." to heart.

Truth be told this is a media frenzy whipped up by the NRA to build a support base and the gun shops to build capital. I do think that with Obama's, and in particular Biden's, history of anti gun voting we're going to see alot of new restrictions, but they aren't going to take away all the guns. Maybe a new assault weapons ban.

The only way Obama affects my gun rights at the moment is I was going to buy a 1911 and a derringer for christmas and now I might not be able to because of the media frenzy.

Also, I'm with zatojones of this one, I'm looking at a very merry christmas in 2010!

John_hmstr - 2008-11-13

Am I the only one confused? Which of the presidential candidates talked about gun control? Was I watching a different election? I maybe heard the candidates mention guns a couple of times in the whole 21 months of the crazy election crap and none of those times touched on gun control that I remember. The quotes I do remember were something like "Don't tell me we can't honor the second amendment and keep guns out of the hands of criminals." and of coarse, the infamous "cling to guns and religion" line which didn't have anything to do with gun control I don’t think. Did it? So why in an election year when gun control was a complete non-issue is this fear all of a sudden at the forefront of everyone’s mind?

Zatojones I am there with you, stupid hoarding now means bargains for me down the line. :-)

boner - 2008-11-13

I don't know if this is a gun control thing, or the general belief that Democrats let violent criminals out of prison. (or both)

Aelric - 2008-11-13

I think half of them are carving Obama's name into the bullets.

chumbucket - 2008-11-13

how many are sniper rifles?

Dinky Patterson - 2008-11-13

This is gonna be the best shootout EVER.

citrusmirakel - 2008-11-13

I don't understand why gun enthusiasts complain about assault weapons bans. Every time one of those passes, the gun manufacturers just file down the trigger guard a quarter inch, give it a new name, and it's back to business.

DMKA - 2008-11-13

I like how these people think being president means you can do whatever the fuck you want and with the snap of your fingers you can make shit illegal.

lol, frightened, uneducated rednecks
