The horrible sing-a-longs got stuck in your head so when you're 90 and have Alzheimers you'll start singing "Gonna need a COBRA Rattler / If you're gonna beat G.I. Joe" etc

Jet Bin Fever - 2009-06-29

The Cobra Rattler has a cherished place in my heart. I kept it separate from the rest in a sort of shrine and because of that still have every single one of its bajillion missiles.

Memories.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-06-29

The mobile command center is basically a giant RV. I think they may have just modified one of the molds from the Barbie factory.

Chibisuke - 2009-06-29

There was a joe named BARBECUE?

Stopheles - 2009-06-29

For some reason, a few of my braincells are devoted to remembering that Barbecue could fit his mouth over the bottom of a two-liter bottle of Coke (the filecard specified Coke for some reason).

freedoom - 2009-06-29

Yeah, he was a firefighter. he had at least one episode where he was the featured character. the episode was based on an old joke.

TypicalEllisProtagonist - 2009-06-29

THE VIPER IS COMING TO VASH AND VIPE YOUR VINDOWS.

JimmyDark - 2009-06-30

The Vindow Viper episode is the only one I remember from watching the show as a kid. I think it was the first time a joke ever made me groan.

MongoMcMichael - 2009-06-29

I DON'T NEED A BED, MOM! THE G.I. JOE AIRCRAFT CARRIER TAKES UP HALF OF MY ROOM!

Christ, that's unnecessary.

Ponasty - 2009-06-29

it did too. my friend had it and barely had room to walk in his bedroom. I love how it was hude but still not large enough to fit the scale of the f-15 that landed on it.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-06-29

0 of plastic. And I want one.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-06-29

"Rock and roll over anyone who threatens world peace."

AMERICA FUCK YEAH

Camonk - 2009-06-29

"Not in here!" is not really a good answer to the question, "Where's the Admiral?" That seems like the kind of thing you should know. Yes, I know you're eight, but still the admiral is really important.

He's like the sea general of our boat army, you see?

TeenerTot - 2009-06-29

That carrier is one mutha piece of plastic. I wonder how many of those are sitting in landfills?

Also, I'll bet this clip is pretty close to what plays in Dubya's head at the mention of "Bush Doctrine."

Yes, I'm still kinda bitter.

zatojones - 2009-06-29

that battle game looks fun.

Hooper_X - 2009-06-29

I had it. The rules were ultimately pointless, it was way more fun to use the board as a giant play mat for your Joes.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2009-06-29

Do you guys ever wonder how much more fun playing with all these "use your imagination" toys would have been if we discovered psychedelics at that age?

Ponasty - 2009-06-29

yeah. i would just have sat there looking at Zartan change colors and giggle.

Chibisuke - 2009-06-29

Wait, we were supposed to use our imaginations? Shit, I was improvising actual explosives using gunpowder from old fireworks.

Hooper_X - 2009-06-29

I always really really dug the little one-man outpost playsets - that defense base with the machine gun was pretty great... too bad the other two in that ad both blew.

memedumpster - 2009-06-29

If we were fighting Cobra instead of Al Qaeda, we'd have surrendered on September 12th.

Tuan Jim - 2009-06-29

I had the hydrofoil, but it was called the Cobra Mamba. I wonder why it was renamed. Did people not know that the mamba is a poisonous snake?

I also had the hovercraft. it came with a little motorcycle for some reason.

I played for hours with the little motorcycle, making the guy on it go all Evel Knievel.

Sphinx - 2009-07-26

I had quite a bit of GI Joe stuff and it was pretty sweet. My friends down the street had quite a bit too so we'd play war a lot especially since they had a lot of the nicer things like the Terrordome and Joe headquarters. We all knew we'd never get that aircraft carrier so we improvised and built a square two story box which became the conning tower of an aircraft carrier when when it was placed on the ping pong table.

Or we'd put it on the back porch and it'd be the upper levels of the Pit.

Either way we were dorks who probably should have gotten beat up a lot more in school
