What in the hell were they warning about? divorce?

Bort - 2010-01-07

Almost certainly: divorce was a shocking and almost blasphemous thing back in the day, and one of the less-hailed victories of the Culture Wars is the general acceptance that divorce is better than loveless and doomed marriage for the rest of one's life.

I know someone who couldn't find places to live because she had divorced her husband back around 1970; potential landlords even told her she was a wicked person for divorcing. Like I say, a less-hailed victory, perhaps because even those on the other side of the Culture War are glad to have the option of getting divorced (and can't hide it like they could an abortion).

Oh, I get it, the clones in Paranoia aren't supposed to marry because when one dies and is replaced God doesn't see that as the original spouse.

Camonk - 2010-01-06

You know what that sounds like to me?

The vapid, seditious mumblings of a commie mutant traitor.

Explodotron - 2010-01-06

All my stars for the Friend Computer.

BiggerJ - 2010-01-06

Only a treasonous fiend question the rights of Ultraviolets!

Paracelsus - 2010-01-07

Ah, West End.

Explodotron - 2010-01-07

Without anyone to play their Star Wars RPG with, my dozens of source books and hundred of d6's are lonely.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-01-06

Ally Sheedy?

The Townleybomb - 2010-01-06

Jeez, aren't you old enough to remember when all the churchies were all het up about the Computer Menace? I mean, Ataris were illegal in a couple of Southern states well into the mid-80s.

cognitivedissonance - 2010-01-07

CAROUSEL, THISAWAY ----->

kamlem - 2010-01-07

For the avertisement to be really compelling thay should have shown the mountains of data conclusively proving that christian divorce rates are lower. That would really be a splinter in the eye of those non-christians!

phalsebob - 2010-01-07

Sometimes it's funnier when you aren't even sure why their panties are in a bunch.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2010-01-07

I'm willing to agree with that.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-01-07

I suspect that this commercial was made in protest of interracial marriages.

RomancingTrain - 2010-01-07

I think it would have been more effective if the couple took separate exits.

Hugo Gorilla - 2010-01-07

Render to Unimatrix-2000 that which is Unimatrix-2000's.

Syd Midnight - 2010-01-07

Short duration personal marriage is a SubGenius tradition, prior to weird adulterous or masturbatory acts..

charmlessman - 2010-01-07

I'm confused. How is this any different than reality?

pastorofmuppets - 2010-01-07

Printer wasn't jammed.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-01-07

The license-bot playing the Wedding March reminds me of this ATM they had at the Newport Folk Festival one year that screeched "We're in the Money" and shot your money out three feet in the air like a cartoon slot machine.

jerrysp702 - 2010-02-26

This is bullshit. No-one uses MasterCard.
