...This just in--- Tigers & Penguins celebrate new years!!!

kiint - 2010-02-12

wow...that tiger and penguin thing is new since I submitted this. I think CBS updated it and really does consider it a palette cleanser.

Cube - 2010-02-12

The tiger kitten and penguin thing was totally a balancer. It brought a whole "newborn life and death" dimension to this.

Charles - 2010-02-12

Maybe a little too soon?

fredfrankel - 2010-02-12

not soon enough for CBS!

divinitycycle - 2010-02-12

so many kinds of win!

Frank Rizzo - 2010-02-12

I think he lost.

1 star

RocketBlender - 2010-02-12

I'm with Frank, not really a big fan of watching people DIE.

Mister Yuck - 2010-02-12

One star for snuff.

Camonk - 2010-02-13

Man seriously

Subfuscious - 2010-02-13

You're an ass.

Camonk - 2010-02-13

No I'm not, fuck you!! Oh, wait, I... I think I understand...

RocketBlender - 2010-02-13

Maybe it's an unofficial rule or just a courtesy, but I thought we had a thing here about no videos of people dying.

Freeman Gordon - 2010-02-13

Olympic Games should be considered as satisfying exception though.

sosage - 2010-02-13

Guess what. It's not.

SixDigitDebt - 2010-02-13

I refuse to rate this, but at the same time I can't believe the vag factor over it. People die in horrible ways (quite often FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR WORSE THAN THIS) all the freakin' time and no one reacts quite so strongly.

This species sucks.

(I'm wasted, don't take me seriously)

Eroticus E - 2010-02-13

People die, moron. That doesn't mean I want to watch it happen, or find any entertainment in it.

Vag factor indeed, douchebag.

SixDigitDebt - 2010-02-13

And I bet morbid curiosity had you watching that video at least once. You're a horrible little person just like the rest of us. Go sit down.

RocketBlender - 2010-02-13

People die, I know that. I don't live in some fantasy world where everyone lives forever, I just don't want to video footage of it mixed in with my comedy and cats.

RocketBlender - 2010-02-13

Oh yeah, forgot to mention it, but also fuck you, divinitycycle, for using 'win' as a noun. And for using it to describe this.

sosage - 2010-02-13

Preaching to us about death and snuff vids is like preaching to us about bouncer culture after watching a MMA clip.

You are only convincing us that you may be a tool of some kind.

P.S. "No snuff" was one of the POETV commandments from day 1.

Eroticus E - 2010-02-13

For what it's worth, I didn't watch the clip.

oogaBooga - 2010-02-12

Man, I really needed that tiger and penguin palette cleanser afterwards. Strategically placed, CBS. Bravo.

splatterbabble - 2010-02-13

Saccharine makes the harsh medicine go down better.

TheQuakeSoldier - 2010-02-12

Don't miss the exciting follow-up, Brazilian TV Helicopter Crash!

CBSnews.com is apparently the new Ogrish.

Sacks5thAvenButt - 2010-02-12

Ogrish broke my soul in the 8th grade

James Woods - 2010-02-12

srsly

that was pretty disturbing.

Scynne - 2010-02-12

I just heard about this around 20 minutes ago. My asshole city made the most dangerous luge track in the history of mankind.

James Woods - 2010-02-12

Nice work west coast. :P

BorrowedSolution - 2010-02-12

5-starring Vancouver's evil.

mouser - 2010-02-13

We never had that problem in Montreal. Not that luge if very big either in summerlimpics.

The sound of the video is more terrifying IMHO.

But 1 because this is not the place for this video.

FB is.

Hooker - 2010-02-13

Well, it's in Whistler, so Vancouver proper can sleep soundly. Sort-of.

Also, as I understand it, he didn't die immediately, so this possibly isn't snuff.

Konversekid - 2010-02-12

They showed this on CTV which is Canadian news channel with the exclusive Olympic rights this year. The second I saw the crash my response was: "Holy fuck they put this on TV" and then they proceeded to show it again in slow motion.

Colonel Cowlung - 2010-02-13

NBC played it at least three times on their national evening news. It's not exactly gruesome video, other than someone dying. Still I was surprised to see it broadcast over the USA's public airwaves. More than once.

Five stars for history.

Valvados - 2010-02-12

You can hear the *clang*. :( God, that's horrifying.

Five stars for the pure evil of CBS keeping this video active.

klingerbgoode - 2010-02-12

welp the olympics sure started with a bang

notascientist - 2010-02-13

More like a clang/cruch/sickening thud like someone hitting a watermelon with an aluminium baseball bat. One star for snuff.

Hooper_X - 2010-02-12

but i'm from georgia and i don't see lex luger anywhere :(

Riskbreaker - 2010-02-12

When does the Running man starts showing on tv?

Jeriko-1 - 2010-02-13

That really hit the spot!

MaulLove - 2010-02-12

:(

Michael Houser - 2010-02-13

Saw it on the tv earlier - might as well be here.
Real nice of the local stations to freeze-frame it just as he's losing control.
"The rest is too shocking to show."
"That would be great, if I didn't just see it on CBS. Now I can fill in the fucking rest from memory."

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-02-13

I'm 5-starring this for the same reasons most people are one-starring it.

FABIO - 2010-02-13

Luge is one of those sports I watch and say, "No really dude. You don't have to do that."

Chibisuke - 2010-02-13

Well at least it was quick and painless.

What were they thinking building a course with unpadded metal bars next to it though?

cognitivedissonance - 2010-02-13

As we've seen in no less than four Indiana Jones movies, a luger is always beaten by whiplash.

ztc - 2010-02-13

Ouch

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-02-13

How offensive!

Rabid Vegan - 2010-02-13

Yeah nice going there, CBS.

Reality_Unknown - 2010-02-13

Are huge metal beams along the tracks really an optimal solution? Would that kinda shit fly on any other racing tracks?

Gwago - 2010-02-13

One star for poor taste. R.I.P.

kingarthur - 2010-02-13

One star for snuff. We can find that everywhere else on the internets, no need to post it here.

Magical Man from Happy-Land - 2010-02-13

watching people die gets me so fucking HARD

kennydra - 2010-02-13

It's not like there's blood and guts. Y'all five starred the horrible truck crash video even though 4 people died in that. And what about that one from way back where the floor collapses? This is just horrible, but not gruesome. And CBS's tagline deal at the end is definitely evil enough.

TeenerTot - 2010-02-13

I can't rate this. I wish I hadn't watched it at all.

:(

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2010-02-13

Five stars for people who don't even know what snuff is.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2010-02-13

Hint: It's not the Hindenburg disaster, the Zapruder film, or this.

chairsforcheap - 2010-02-13

oh, ok! Now i feel great that i just watched someone get killed in a horrific way!

asshole

Aeschylus - 2010-02-13

>>chairsforcheap

You have a video of where he died later in the hospital? Maybe you should post that.

Morons...

Lurchi - 2010-02-13

One star for me, for watching it.

APE_GOD - 2010-02-13

Absolutely five stars for this. The CBS logo flashes up, while you are still soaking in the sudden violence of the end of that clip only to be replaced, just as suddenly, with the image of a chubby and awkward tiger kitten in a pink dress galumphing around and screaming.

All in the space of three seconds.

Massive head trauma. Market branding. Infant animal in drag.

Boom. boom. boom.

Awesome.

(to the detractors: I am curious about what definition of 'evil' are you using)

APE_GOD - 2010-02-13

hurr durr Epiphany ate my stars

Potrod - 2010-02-14

Not sure why this gets tons of outrage and 1-stars while the South Korean Chinook helicopter crashing and blowing up while placing a momument on a bridge gets zero outrage and not a single rating (out of 18) under 4 stars.

Yeah, the 3 Korean soldiers that were killed are hidden in the cockpit making it a bit less gruesome looking, but the bottom line is you're still watching multiple people die. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I very much doubt that those are the only 2 videos showing people dying on poetv, and I also doubt that most of them get this kind of outrage.

Riskbreaker - 2010-02-23

If you haven't noticed there's some awful double-standards going on here, just pretend you didn't notice.

Also, i'm glad i haven't seen that video.
