While it is true that slavery wasn't the only reason for the start of the Civil War, this video fails to mention that it was slavery that was always the sticking point between North and South. Those evil taxes the narrator claims was the reason the war started were repealed before the war started.
As for blacks fighting for the South? That's complete bullshit.

Before the civil war, the South was all about using federal power to take away states rights to choose whether slavery should be legal, up until the second they were no longer in the majority. They passed the Fugitive Slave Act, a massive violation of states rights, just ten years before the civil war began. I can't count the number of times I've had this conversation:
"I'm a small government Glenn Beck conservative/libertarian. I believe in small government and states rights!"
"But weren't you saying just saying that you wanted Christianity taught in schools, citizenship checks at police stops, government power to indefinitely detain suspected terrorists, criminalizing abortions, more police officers and prisons, and more regulation of content on TV and the internet? And didn't you support federal action to stop states from choosing to allow gay marriage, decriminalize marijuana, pass immigration reform and set up comprehensive healthcare reform?"
"Well yeah, but the point is that New York, California and Washington DC are making the federal government too liberal, and we need to restore states rights so that Real Americans are back in charge."

Mother_Puncher - 2010-12-20 Yeah I've always found that pretty pathetic that a party is so stupid that they will say they want smaller government but cry and bitch about no regulations on things they are against. I guess "real Americans" only surface when it suits the rights' agenda. Huh. I never thought about it in a historical sense but tea party activists are nothing but racists and regressives because the whole party is made up of people who actually fought in the civil war and still have no sense of history. It makes so much sense now.
