Aelric - 2011-06-10 As much as I love the fallout series, the post-apoc thing needs a rest for a while. Just take a break and get back to us in three years when we have the hankering. Carmac might take us to the moon on his rocketship, and that is more interesting to me than his games currently.

I very much like the tag "old wine in new bottles", its very appropriate and I've been saying for quite some time now that a lot of FPS games, especially anything made by Id software is basically the same fundamental gameplay found in Doom with a graphical upgrade.
And Id software games follow an excruciatingly predictable formula that was played out as far back as 98 at the height of Quake 2's popularity.
I mean really? A semiautomatic rocket launcher? What, can you aim it at your feet and go flying in the air too? Fuck.
Their games are always so incredibly predictable, circle strafe like a moron, shoot an enemy with incredibly generic painframes (or none at all) until its dead, rinse, repeat.
Honestly, as much as I'm not fan of EA, I found that Dead Space was a far more interesting game, and they made a commendable effort to make a game that was compelling enough to play from start to finish.
Visuals alone can't save a game if the tasks are monotonous and unrewarding.
