Well assembled video with solid art direction (ie, gobs of money thrown at it) but its sorta fun to see people who are obsessed with being 'outside the mainstream' and original aping Mark Romanek and David Fincher without adding anything new. The Burning Man imagery, it's all so familiar: the only reason stuff like this isn't popular now is because it was popular 14 years ago.

misterbuns - 2012-07-27 The ironic post apocalypse has been boring longer than ICP has been around.
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-07-28 I don't know, the ironic post apocalypse was still pretty good back in the 80s when ICP formed.
|
misterbuns - 2012-07-29 huh? icp wasnt a thing until the mid late 90's. i guess if you were a gutter troll in detroit or whatever you might have known about them earlier than that.

Are they actually singing about Chris Benoit? I couldn't bother to pay attention what they were saying, or to the video for that matter.

Video is uninteresting, but I cannot believe how absolutely terrible ICP music is. It really sets a new standard.
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-07-27 I don't know, this is pretty middle of the road, if I didn't know it was ICP I wouldn't really care one way or the other.
|
jangbones - 2012-07-27 I cannot agree. I find this spectacularly putrid. Its not raw sewage, its refined sewage, distilled so all the clean and redeeming parts are removed.
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-07-27 I'd rather listen to them than MCR or Gwen Stefani or the last two decades of Metallica's output.
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-07-27 Or String Cheese Incident.
|
dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-07-27 I'd rather listen to "What You Waiting For" and "Holla Back Girl" on repeat for five hours straight than have to sit through one three minute ICP song.
They're that bad.

This reminds me a lot of the NIN Year Zero album.

blue vein steel - 2012-07-27
when are ICP and Billy Corgan gonna collaborate on their shared love of professional wrestling?
|
memedumpster - 2012-07-27 I thought you were joking about Billy Corgan until I looked it up.

God this music is terrible.

The kids who like ICP like them because they tell them they are special and unique and don't have to try very hard assimilating into the rest of modern culture, which is scary, just like their parents, who are fans of Rush Limbaugh, who like him because he tells them they are special and unique and don't have to try very hard assimilating into the rest of modern culture, which is scary.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-07-28 I don't think "conformity" is any different from joining a hyper-clannish subculture with socially unacceptable wardrobe and esoteric lingo. Furthermore, don't rail against "conformity" and then make sure that everybody knows you only listen to one band and have zero interest in seeing if you happen to like anything else, simply because said band flatters you and your perceived "outsider" status, whilst simultaneously foisting merchandise at you through every angle.
Assimilation into greater society is part of growing up. Learning to behave in a way that is inoffensive to people unlike yourself is an important step to adulthood.
|
memedumpster - 2012-07-28 You're one person failing to assimilate into a society of millions of ICP fans. You're not the one with the defining role in society by comparison.

spikestoyiu - 2012-07-28
They've been rapping for like twenty years now and they're still terrible at it.
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-07-28 I'd say they're getting worse at it, if anything.
They're not rappers, though, they're pro wrestlers who don't actually wrestle and set their rants to shitty beats.

paparatti - 2012-07-28
Tasteless garbage from start to finish.

It's nice to see NIN get back to its roots.
