Mental illness as ethos.

DriverStabby - 2013-10-21

He's a whack-job. I don't care about either side.

But, "we have to pass the bill so you can see what's in it," is scary bullshit.

StanleyPain - 2013-10-21

Yeah, it's almost like people with a specific political agenda removed the part of the speech that bookends the quote so that it was removed from context and sounded really damning.

baleen - 2013-10-22

Hahahaha the whole "pass the bill to see what's in it meme" is the very core of how fucking stupid people who are unwilling to actually read anything about the ACA themselves happen to be. HOW FUCKING STUPID ARE YOU TO BELIEVE THAT IS A VALID ARGUMENT AGAINST ANY PIECE OF LEGISLATION.

Do you think that's actually the entire story of months, years of political debate on the floor? "Oh yeah well we're passing this because if we don't nobody will read it and we haven't read it see that's how dumb we are." That's how you think it happened? A Facebook image meme? That's your entire understanding of this landmark legislation? A fucking out of context quote?

I am going to come to your house and rip your asshole out of your ass and fuck it with your own dick. Fuck you. I'm drunk.

kamlem - 2013-10-22

Badly worded, but in context you can see she was trying to convey that the doomsday predictions would not pan out if the bill was passed.

"You've heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don't know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it's about diet, not diabetes. It's going to be very, very exciting. But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

baleen - 2013-10-22

And the thing is, it's not really important, especially if you care enough about the ACA to read about it yourself.
People that quote "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it" to suggest a socialistic takeover of our rights, or whatever the ominous overtone is, are basically admitting that they cannot be bothered to read anything about it. It's like saying "The United Nations, well, they want to take our guns because of 8 a paragraph from a clause from hundreds of pages seems to suggest that, which violates our Constitution." It's just the worst, most vile and irresponsible way to participate in a democracy and I wish nothing but death to people that operate on quotations. I hope there are ten illegal mexicans for every one of you because at least they'll end up having to take a test.

pyslexic dharmacist - 2013-10-23

5 stars for "I am going to come to your house..."

I don't know what baleen looks like, but that mental image is hysterical.

Hooker - 2013-10-21

Holding the senator's feet to the fire by calling him Sen. Smalley.

bac - 2013-10-22

It completely shows what a shitstain this clown is.

themilkshark - 2013-10-22

He wants to be the "Sick burn!!!" pundit.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2013-10-22

So wait it's not the job of the government to help kids, but it is the job for it to help billion dollar corporations?

Wow.

1394 - 2013-10-22

This is what happens when we let Canadians run the government!

Kid Fenris - 2013-10-22

If only he were talking to an Al Franken impersonator the whole time.

memedumpster - 2013-10-22

Only black kids play outside, so fuuuuuuuck that.

catpenis27 - 2013-10-22

Some people did an experiment, I can't remember who but I remember the outcome. They had some planted white kids "attack" a planted car with bats, breaking the windows of it at a local park I wanna say in Ohio. Someone called the cops, but not on the white kids killing the car, but on the black kids sitting in a car nearby waiting to ruin another planted car. Their experiment couldn't even be completed.

baleen - 2013-10-22

I had the privilege of meeting Al a year before he ran.
A very short man, but also a very considerate and funny one. I will always see him as the spiritual successor of Wellstone. A great senator.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-10-22

He's one of the best we have.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-10-22

Al's clone is still very, very bitter.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-10-22

I really support those provisions in the bill. I'm glad that women will have time to breast feed. It really makes a difference in the health of the child. What a DOUCHE. He's not even effective at trolling.

StanleyPain - 2013-10-22

The delightful cherry on top of this is that Mattera is yet another closet-case, anti-gay conservative who apparently doesn't think healthcare or any of that stuff is the business of the government, but amending the constitution to disallow gay marriage IS.

catpenis27 - 2013-10-22

STUART SMALLEY! I was in rehab and we were gonna watch that movie because what else would we do for ,000 a month? Anyway, some ass announces that "we're seeing Stuart saves his family" and a guy I was kind of friends with yells out, "Is Stuart a pillow biter?" "You'll just have to see the movie."

I love Al Franken, you know he's also an avid welder? He's like a hard left Ron Swanson.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-23

I heard Stuart Smalley was a good movie, but that "those who would get the most out of it aren't the kind of people who go out to see movies."

I wonder how it would've done as a direct-to-stream feature? Also, I'm kind of amazed SNL hasn't started producing craploads of cheapo "movies" for Netflix or whoever based on their skits... unless they have, and I just haven't noticed.

catpenis27 - 2013-10-23

I can describe how my mind works when I'm drunk and happy only as follows: It is as difficult to make a machine run perfectly as it is to make it run poorly in a very specific way. Therefore, I commend you sir on replicating almost perfectly my inimitable faults.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-10-27

Is rehab really 30k a month? I feel like we accidentally uncovered a new social injustice.

catpenis27 - 2013-11-01

It can be. There are free detoxes/rehabs like Salvation Army and that kind of thing, there's random places that take homeless people only, but those places are really hard to get into believe it or not, and never accept people on medication, and almost always shove the bible down your throat.
