Starts off weak, but gets better exponentially.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-21

Pretty sure this is a dupe, but it's a classic, and we need something like this to get us in the mood for WWIII.

Callamon - 2014-09-21

Nope http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=40380 the song from the movie is WAY crazier.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-21

No, I'm talking about this one. I might have seen it somewhere else, of course; Starship Troopers is awesome, and this is the sort of thing I'd find on my own time.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-21

AHA!

I was going to post much the same comment on this one, actually. It really is the greatest shitty movie of all time.

infinite zest - 2014-09-21

I was 16 when this came out in theatres, and some dickhead usher kicked me out because I bought a ticket for something else and walked into Starship Troopers. Until it went to the cheaper theatres, I knew I'd run into that fucker again so I just read the book, and then Stranger in a Strange Land, almost out of spite for that guy. The Wunderland by my house turned out getting it later, which was fine by me because it was a dollar and they really didn't care. I was really high and it kind of blew my mind: "HOLY SHIT THE WHOLE MOVIE'S A RECRUITMENT FILM!!!" So I loved it. Next to Black Book, it's tied with Robocop as my favorite Verhoven film, which means it's pretty much up there with "greatest movie of all time." Like the much-maligned Showgirls, Verhoven knew exactly what he was doing.

I love Heinlein, but am I the only one who thought the movie was better than the book?

The Mothership - 2014-09-21

of course you aren't. I think they are about equal in terms of quality of enjoyment, but they are different animals. Heinlein was serious about facism and raised real questions about the duties of citizenship. Verhoven took those ideas and made a brilliant combination of satire and action film, like most of his movies.

misterbuns - 2014-09-21

Satire is always king.

Syd Midnight - 2014-09-22

"Tearing the shit out of Heinlein's fascist utopia in his own movie is why Starship Troopers is so awesome. It's like if they made Atlas Shrugged and all the heroes gradually turned blue over the course of the picture and then John Galt puts his hand on a mexican and yells "it's afraid!" while the crowd cheers."

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2014-09-21

With tags like that this will be duped my friend.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-09-21

This song has the best use of SNAFU in all of music.

misterbuns - 2014-09-21

Yes.

craptacular - 2014-09-21

this dupe gets five stars, and YES i want to know more

infinite zest - 2014-09-21

Holy Light of Demons also did a tribute to Ash from Army of Darkness, which.. I dunno. I think I saw these guys on a poster a little while, and liked their name but didn't check out the show. It might have smelled like when I saw the Minibosses.
