If you've ever seen a Michael Bay movie, you'd know that the answer is "yes".

It was a space movie, so it couldn't be 90% fiery gasoline explosions.

I was 16 too and I liked it; haven't seen it since though. I never really understood all the hate. I think I also saw Deep Impact that year, which was criticized for not having enough action and explosions. I mean, it's an asteroid-falling-to-earth-movie. What are you expecting? Plus, at the time, everything cinematically that would be known as Michael Bay-esque or whatever was pretty revolutionary.

I was forced to see it in theaters by some so-called friends when I was 20 but I don't remember much of it at all.

I don't think anyone will mind me spoiling it, but what I remember is meteors start falling to earth but everybody's like "oh it's not a big deal" because these things happen and the black president says that we mourn the loss of the 5 people who died but are thankful for the thousands who jumped away from explosions and luckily it was on a saturday so nobody was in those buildings.. but then there's a big one which is like bigger than earth and all the scientists are like "oh no" so they send up the missile to destroy it and it does nothing but make it go faster but then Billy Bob Thornton remembers all his off-shore drilling friends who he used play pool and get drunk with at bars, because unlike most scientists Billy Bob Thornton's not a nerd. So he calls Bruce Willis and he's like "hey if you drill into the asteroid you can destroy it from the inside" and John McClaine is all like "no way man you fucked my wife remember?" but they put their differences aside but he's like "there's no way I'm letting Argo go." Because that's his son. So Ben Afflick sneaks on the ship along with Nucky Thompson and someone else and they drill it to the tune of Aerosmith's classic "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing." But what they will miss is Korben Dallas, who sadly explodes to save his son Daredevil's life. The earth is saved and Hudson Hawk is given a funeral even though his body is totally dead.

Yeah I think we were having a conversation about how awesome Pain and Gain was, and how if it had an Alan Smithee or was directed by Martin Scorcese, it wouldn't have received so much hate. I mean, it was a fucking great movie! Plus, he's guilty by association. Bay did not direct TMNT, Battleship or any other board game-turned movie that is somehow linked to him, even when it's got nothing to do with him.
