John Waters is the fucking best. I hope he speaks out more about what he calls "liberal censors," because I am concerned about liberal censorship, but unlike so many assholes worried about the SuperJeWs, he's not a misogynist.
Frank Tashlin's story is fascinating. He was an early animator for Warner Brothers, worked closely with Tex Avery. For some reason he stops animating and moves to live action, and this is the movie that he really went crazy with. All the sight gags and weird fake jazz clubs are all pure cartoon shtick, and it works magnificently.
