I quite like firing guns and I think gun ownership should be legal. I also support reasonable gun control to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, and limit the potential for mass death. This is not a difficult position to grasp.

Yeah I've never fired a gun, but if someone took me to a shooting range or something I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out. But the problem here is defining "dangerous people." Look at the two suspects who were killed in San Bernadino yesterday: unless you were Islamophobic there'd be no reason to not sell a gun to either one of them, a married couple with a baby, the male suspect working in the Health Dept attending the meeting.

Taking better measures to ensure that guns don't get into the hands of mentally unstable folks makes sense, but anybody can turn on a dime: your spouse leaves you, you lose your job; could've been completely cookie-cutter when you bought the firearm and now you've snapped and you're a murderer.

You don't have to be a stoner to think that weed should be legalized.

Yay for SMA! But, as a Luddite I thought that's pretty much how it works. I mean, it took less than a day for the FBI to figure out that all the weapons that Farook and Malek used in San Bernadino on Wednesday were legally bought (yes, including the rifles) in the state of California.

(But also feel free to correct me on this, but it seems no different than buying a car and deciding to plow into a sidewalk full of pedestrians. Just because you know who owned it doesn't make it any less dangerous.)
